If we have a big trade coming, its time to trade in Ham too. I dont think he can coach a championship team.

Ham is a quick learner, we saw that, 2-10 record followed by a 8-2 record, .500 ball since with a lot of injuries. You see he got Westbrook to play ball off the bench and that is not an easy sell, guys believe in him. Yeah, I don't get the small lineups but we have not had a lot of options in the large 2-3-4 department. Period. He has had to adapt. Rui helps, another large wing like Joe Harris coming in with Kyrie would be nice too. Ham has had to work with AD or LBJ out of the line up a lot too. We shouldn't be so quick to dump on our coaches, he is able and he's doing what he can. Let's see him at full strength. Again, I gather that the start was full health and still horrible, will give him a poker chip there based on new roster. New HC.

I was against the hiring, him being a 1st time coach to coach old LeBron, and it shows up with the greenhorn mistakes he makes quite frequently BUT you can’t deny the motivational skills and that’s rare ala Riles or PJax

I bet folks wouldn't mind a 3 guard lineup with Kyrie Irving in it. Nobody would complain about Kyrie, Dennis and Bev at all.

We all would. Who would want to have to see it when absolutely not necessary and handicap us midget wise on defense? Besides you for some devil’s advocating point you’ll want to argue here. :D

This is guy is an awful coach so far in terms of lineups.
The defensive "adjustments" he put on BI was terrible - they hunted Brown the entire 4th quarter. So he put Bevs on him who has no chance against BI's length

The obvious thing to do would be to Bevs on CJ and double BI or put Rui on him.
Ran the same lineup the entire 4th quarter again
No AD postups after JV was injured

And this is not me making things up after the game: see the game thread

He’s an absolute terrible coach at making in game decisions and having a feel for matchups. Just terrible.

Feel like when he's not sure what to do he just goes into safety blanket mode: put Bevs on the guy who is scoring instead of thinking thru the combinations he had.
This matches him not going with more length when they started head hunting Brown (try Rui or even Christie) or you put Bevs into a favorable matchup (he's ideal size to guard CJ) and you sell out on BI

This also matches his game planning on offense: I don't think they posted up AD once. yeah he was hitting 3's earlier but the game changed and Nance was selling out. Get Nance in foul trouble and slow the game down for heaven's sake

I’m ready to say he’s not a good coach. It isn’t like Rui is a great defender, but Bev can’t guard BI, he was destroying us. That’s not deep stuff, it’s common sense, you don’t put a 6’2 guy on a 6’8 guy with arms down to his knees. He doesn’t make adjustments, he doesn’t play to players’ strengths, it’s a mess. You shouldn’t have to trade players like Bev away to save a coach from himself, I’ve lost faith in our chances now, even if we make the playoffs this guy won’t coach us to a title.

I’m feeling some Randy Pfund aura from Ham. All around likable guy but is way over his head and does not have a coaching tactic skill to save his own life. If he continues to be the coach, they need to hire his friend Snyder to be there 24/7.

If not Rui, I felt like Troy Brown Jr did a decent enough job and I don't know, maybe give JTA some burn too. Anyone but a midget guard on BI.

edit: Max Christie ahead of JTA, but my point still stands. Ham has decent options to rotate on BI instead of sticking pat pev on him

Made no sense whatsoever to not at least TRY to use our 6’8 wing with a 7’2 wingspan to guard their 6’9 wing with a 7’4 wingspan. Plus BI is not fleet of foot so Rui could’ve leveled him off on drives. Also, why don’t you post up AD on 6’7 Larry Nance, Jr. and just foul him out of the game in the 4th quarter?

If we had a rim protecting center, I might just put AD at the four until crunch time. I feel AD would be a much bigger difference on defensive if he played the four. Our offense would be brutal though.. Zero spacing
