Meeting over, no contract signed, went "extremely well" according to people present.

Seems to me, "extremely well" would equal a signed contract.

He was enamored; they had his attention. He was very interested in what we were offering; that's what I would gather....

Well yeah I just kind of figured... this is a sales pitch. Aren't most people focused? We're Carmelo and Howard unfocused during the pitch?

Kobe prob told him i aint passing the torch until i see that you're ready and dwight didnt like it.

After all he considers himself a "champion"

A swag champion to be exact

Carmelo was, but I believe he wanted the money in New York and loves playing there, living there, being a celebrity there, etc; Dwight wanted out around February; he didn't care what we presented. He just wanted out...

I have a theory that we already got an agreement from Lamarcus, which is why we didn't draft Okafor. According to this crazy theory (that I came up on my own due to delusion/optimism/wishful thinking), we were the ones putting out all the rumors that we were Lamarcus' second option. We agreed that he'll do his due diligence and meet with other teams, with the idea being that when he eventually signs with us, it will make our pitch look so much stronger that future pitches might be even more in our favor.

Kobe telling him, there's nothing like winning in Los Angeles; the Lakers have always taken care of me, and I have never had to take a paycut. They surrounded me with the right talent, management makes the right decisions, talks about his businesses, Kobe inc. etc; Kobe can be very convincing when he wants to be...

From a person in the room for the Lakers pitch "LaMarcus seemed completely focused."

I remember there were reports of how Kobe told Dwight that he (Kobe) could teach him (Dwight) how to be a champion. Not just from him, but from other all-time greats (since the Lakers have so many).

But we all know Dwight. He thinks that he's already a "champion" and a "winner".

I think the brand is just fine and will get better. There were the episodes...the Stern veto...the clumsy handling of Gasol...the Howard saga...Nash. It was just a string of bad breaks and ill fated decisions that took the shine off. A roster that aged as the injuries also took their toll. Every team goes through cycles. San Antonio...the model of consistency will have their turn soon. Should this young group of draftees pan out it will help restore the luster. As we rise, others will eventually fall. Our front office appears to have worked out its roles after a few seasons of bumbling...trying to find their identity, figuring out their own vision and taking action...all without The Good Doctor.
