Why not? They get a first round pick, it’s a huuuuuuge expiring contract, and the Lakers have paid most of it already, so whoever trades for him at this point only owes him like 18 mil. Nobody wants the player, sure, but expiring contract deals happen all the time. Don’t take away my hooooooope!

No one here thinks that teams want Russ to be their star player or anything. But they do want a pick and an expiring contract. The problem is most of them are greedy and want two picks, and that just won't happen. Otherwise, they would happily get Russ from us.

I didn’t see this til just now, please please please let the people in the FO who think this be the ones with actual power to do something. Not only is he not viable in the playoffs, we won’t make them with him being a big part of the rotation

So, what …. we’re back to where we were at this time last year and all summer and up to this deadline with teams knowing we want to get off him and requiring us to be bent over to do it. @Richard Staple Mensa asking “what are we waiting for? Dumba**.

For the record, and I know you weren’t referencing me specifically but I did post it, I only posted that tweet for the Eric Pincus quote. I looked for it by itself elsewhere but I couldn’t find it so I just shared that. I know what we’re waiting for, the right deal if it’s out there, I just really hope it is.

No not at all … my shot was at “the registered nurse that talks basketball … so yeah!” and his dumb question.

turner just went off the board in FA, and the rest of the options are even less appetizing. so the big expiring isn't carrying water unless we want to take on big long-term money to make it work.

i didn't talk about it, but it thought maybe if philly tanked, we might get tobias harris (huge contract for meh player) or something for russ, but there's just so few options now, same as ever.

i agree with you that if i were running things, i'd just take on salary to get talent and get off russ. but i think jeanie sees a chance to get under the tax. and she (and rob) isn't lying--if a great deal materialized, they'd pay the 1sts and the luxury taxes. but it's not going to. everybody knows it. but waiting was still the right choice because the summer options weren't really better.

Playoff viability? Ham is the problem then because he’ll always sabotage the team by playing Brick in inopportune times.

We aren’t giving up a pick just to get rid of him.

Maybe we are, depending on who is included. I am pretty sure we don't want to include both 1st rounders. But just one for the right deal? I think this is possible. And it's not "just to get rid of him". It is that + get somebody who can actually help us.

….. like typical TNT & ESPN announcing duos opining how they don’t understand why/how HOF Russ is coming off the bench.

Shrug..he's still a better PG than Schroder or Beverley. I get the point they are making. Anyway congrats to Brodie for climbing to 10th All Time in assists.

Russ in HoF is an offense to everything basketball stands for.

It isn’t that he was just bad, it’s that when he’s out there nobody was guarding him, so LeBron couldn’t drive, and when he did the paint was PACKED and he couldn’t get a good shot or pass to AD, there wasn’t room. It’s great that he made some nice passes and scored to help us win, it is, but we cannot win when it matters this way, if we make the playoffs with him he will be rendered useless. I don’t know what the answer is, I would still trade him, but if they can’t, he can’t be closing games where they aren’t guarding him, Ham will have to make the call to play someone else.

lol, we have to make the playoffs first. i just don't see a clear answer. we obviously don't want to take on salary, so i think russ is here all year. he made a couple nice plays on offense in OT, imo.

but no, better teams won't allow that to happen. the knicks aren't good.
