They also have a huge investment at stake. The first couple years of the huge TV deal haven't gone as they hoped is my guess.

^^^. Not comparing Scott to Pop at all... Just saying that besides LMA having to think about the Spurs older players retiring soon, he needs to factor Pop into that equation too..

I think their financial stakes are just fine. The Lakers are still Top 5 in sales even as one of the 5 worst teams in the league. Already with the pick of D'Angelo Russell I'm fairly certain their projections are on the rise. I'm sure they'd love to add another big name to increase sales, but I don't think they're concerned yet about financial returns on their investment. They're still making plenty of money.

So who's gonna be live tweeting from the meeting?

Jeanie Buss, Kobe, Byron Scott, James Worthy, general manager Mitch Kupchak, Jim Buss, assistant GM Glenn Carraro, senior VP of finance Tim Harris and executives from AEG and TIme Warner Cable to woo the free agent big man.

    My money's on a twc executive :p

would be SUPER awkward selling Aldridge on his top billing with Dwight in the room. the irony of Houston looking to get a player better than Dwight in FA is delicious. dude couldn't handle kobe's shadow here--what's he going to do when there's two guys with a stronger brand than him in his own building?

We're putting a lot of our resources into this... If this fails the Lakers are going to have to really reevaluate their stock moving forward. We've got random celebrities helping out, we've got high level financial guys, we've got legends like Kobe and Worthy there... I don't know how much more it'd take for the Lakers to convince someone to make the jump...

They severely underpaid him as they do everyone else thats not a good look

If davis got 145 mil and he hasnt won anything then a finals mvp like kawhi is worth at least $120

I dont care who you are you cant pitch a FA after you just underpaid your best player

What does that say? Please take less and also take less when youre old

Honestly it's not their fault. Davis was severely overpaid by almost any standard. I didn't even know you COULD pay a kid that much.

It would take the ability to contend for a Championship NOW... Lakers can't really offer that yet.

In NBA economics that's the only way to stay competitive for 17 years in a row like they have. I'd say SA must have a pretty good pitch if they can "willingly" get their players again and again to take less for the good of all. That's what is called a team culture.

On another note, I could possibly unstitch my Howard jersey to Aldridge. #LATOLA!

If they can make the player buy into it thats a good look but i dont think that i would wanna hear anything about less money in a FA pitch
