I wouldnt wanna play with a has been ball hogger that makes his teammates cry and has 5 rings End sarcasm
Definitely odd. Have they ever made a splash in free agency? I wouldn't be comfortable giving big minutes to that old core.
Maybe they just want a big name to fill the void while they rebuild .i cant think of any other reason
If I were them, I'd go after guys like Robin Lopez, CJ Watson, KJ McDaniels provide steady depth for Duncan, Manu, and Parker. That core is almost run to the ground, and without depth, will likely fade away. The Clippers, even without a solid system, were too much youth for them.
Just think back to the past few off-seasons, legit information was extremely hard to come by. I almost think I should stay away until Saturday so I'm not rising and falling with every piece of new info.
If we get him we most likely give up Randle. LMA gets 35+ minutes a game at PF. Kobe splits time at the 2 and 3. Where does he play? He's never played SF and he's definitely not the center LMA wants to play with. As long as it's not for Cousins I'm OK with trading him if it brought back a player in a need position with LMA on the roster. Getting LMA is a "now" proposition. He isn't waiting around for younger guys to develop and I'm not sure ownership really wants to develop rookies either. I'm sure they will say so if we strike out trying for a big fish but this groups recent past indicates that they had rather do it quickly over slowly.
Propoganda is a more accurate term. The so called "media" is essentially the mouthpiece for "league sources" which is 90% agents trying to position their clients and GM's trying to leverage the same.
That's a very good point. When was the last time they offered a max deal? I don't remember. It may not have ever happened. LMA is not taking a 50% pay-cut at his age. Also, you're right, he'll have to buy into their system, which means slashing a huge chunk of his minutes and passing the ball and not really being "the man." Maybe when he's 36 he'll consider it, but at 29, no way.
Whoa...just got a notification on my phone saying Lakers are trying to create room for BOTH LMA and DJ... per WOJ?! How is that even possible? I guess Randle/Young/Kelly would need to be shipped out? Maybe sign & trade with clippers for DJ? Damn....this is getting really interesting!
After clearing me head and I gets to reading the Woj tweet, methinks it is not for both but for each one and see who bites first.
That's how I took it, but the media is running the other way and Woj hasn't corrected their behavior... I think actually it's something we're selling to them. "If you take just a bit less, we can get both you and DJ here and get into the playoffs real quick."
Both are on teams "in" the playoffs now and can get longer term Max deals at home. Seems like a long shot to promise them more success than they have now. It's got to be another angle.
No...he clearly says the Lakers are working to unload contracts, trying to create significantly more salary cap space...which means we are trying to get BOTH of them!!! There are so many different ways this can go...but if you're the Clippers...you want this to happen so they can get SOMETHING for DJ from us...something meaning Randle...
