If AD was down to a pain level of 2 last week, he should be back on the court soon. If he declined to have that bone spur removed, I have to assume that he's thinking of getting back to action, in less than the 2 week recovery time, reported for the spur removal procedure.

It would be a medical staff fiasco of epic proportions though, if he came back, looked good, but had to shut it down again because that spur is flared up.

5 more games and we should have a better assessment.

Not on our “medical staff”. AD said he’s gotten like 5 doctor’s opinions?

    This X100
Our 2k team was huge, with JAVALE MCGEE, Dawite, Ludabrow playing mostly the 4 and Markieff along with Kuz and Lebron being big wings. That team was huge destroyed everyone. Our 2007 - 2010 teams were also huge, with Bynum Pau Odom front line and huge wing with Ron.

This formula has worked for almost every team ever, maybe GS being a partial exception (they had Bogut for one of those).

I hate this obsession with small ball, hate it.

i think there are just different ways to win, and the idea that you CAN'T win without 4 three point shooters or without 5 guys who can all switch defensively is lazy. you most certainly can win without those things if you're strong in other ways.

Yeah great news today on the AD front. As I said before I was optimistic that he might return by mid January. We’ll see how he feels after ramping it up to jumping as well as the running.

Good news, let's see if he can come back in 10 days or so. I mean, he'll know relatively soon.

i'll be waiting for the next injury all year, but it's still good to hear that he's likely to be back on the court and largely pain free within a couple weeks.

Oh no, it was a trend for sure. Mainly because of the Warriors's Death Lineup with Draymond at the 5.
After that, teams tried to copy it but forgot that it doesn't work for every team. It depends on your style and personnel. Warriors had size with Iggy and Durant (or Barnes previously) together with Klay who is a big guard. Also, they have a unique offensive system and were the most dangerous team of the league and the one with the greatest shooters of all time. So they could afford it.
Even if you had a powerful big, they were mostly trading 3s for 2s, playing at a high pace making the big uncomfortable plus having a system with constant screens, making them exploiting switches.

The problem is that teams try to copy it with small guards and/or small wings and lack of shooting. And that's a recipe for disaster.

Yeah our latest title team was big , physical and very good on defense and we won it all while not being a good 3pts shooting team

McGee and D12 provided vertical spacing and Danny Green shot was still respected by the opponents defenses despite bricking a lot .

Defense and owning in the paint on both sides is the name of the game (more than 3pts shooting )

AD did have a KD like run from midrange in the playoffs though

is one team's success a trend, though? that was my point. obviously, the warriors were highly unusual, and, btw, their early great teams had bogut at center for 20-25mpg and only played the death lineup sparingly. that formula (sizing down to end games) has been used repeatedly, including by us in our most recent ring and the mavs for most of dirk's career, for example.

similarly, earlier this year, i think folks on the forum were talking about toronto as a model, but even toronto's failing with their own model. the truth is that there are lots of ways to build winning teams, and trends in team-building are kind of lazy, imo. be innovative with what you have. imo, why dantoni's suns worked was that he had a system that fit the personnel when he took over there. and i actually thought he was really smart...until he tried to impose that system with different personnel every day after that.

I'm still confused a bit about our course of action here with Anthony. He had a bone spur break off in his foot. This could have been removed with a minor procedure that has a 2 week recovery time. We elect not to do the procedure, now he's missing at least a month, and the bone spur is still floating around in his foot. Help it make sense folks....

I know AD said that he doesn't like surgery, and would rather avoid it if possible, but jeesh..to have this spur still floating around in the foot? It could flare up at anytime and he's right back on the shelf. SMH

yeah, i feel like i'm missing an important part of the story. like maybe the spur isn't all the way detached, just loose? so it's not about just retrieving, it's about shaving it off?

IDK..but it's confusing to me. He was at a pain level of 2 before the first Hawks game. Darvin said he was running pain free by the 2nd Hawks game. Now he's ramping up and will still miss another 6-7 games? Something is off here IMO.

I could be reading these articles wrong I guess. It seems to me, that the " stress fracture " in his foot, is the bone spur beaking off. I see where one Dr. said that he's probably had the spur since college, and this was just a fluke occurrence.

Either way, I thought he'd be back by MLK day.I still hope so, maybe we are just setting it up, to be a quicker than expected return?

I wish I could, but it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If he's pain free as they say, he should be on the floor already. If the problem isn't fixed by having surgery, it's not going to magically go away on its own. AD can either play on it (in that case please do, because the team needs you) or he can't and he should have surgery, so the problem does not come back when you need AD the most. I don't understand what's with the waiting and being all mysterious about it. We're just wasting more time when the issue could have been fixed weeks ago.

This is "strange". Our medical team sucks donkey balls. If we got snake few summers back, he wouldn't play a game for us with the way we handle things.
