This is most useful, thanks for doing this. It's hell trying to navigate ESPN/Yahoo/NBA.com to find all the news during free agency.
No idea what the heck Phil Jackson is doing. If the Knicks throw the max at Monroe and then $12 million at Afflalo, they will still suck and their defense will be terrible.
Afflalo is a very good defender... Monroe? Jury's out. Jackson and Fisher will be trotting out the Hexagon offense. Stephen "Agitated" Smith is rolling in his grave.
they can offer him max and if he actually eats the food, he can be in the commercials... this is according to Woj
I think Afflalo's defense used to be good...once upon a time. It hasn't been the case for a while. Afflalo is given the defensive rep. Blazers fans expected the same, but they were disappointed by it.
I heard on ESPN Radio that the Clippers offered Jordan a 5 year contract. he said "I want a 4 year, with a player out after the 3rd year". That totally takes away all their leverage. He reportedly has had it with Chris Paul and the Clippers have zero chance of signing him.
I haven't heard that second bit at all, but the first bit is totally accurate. He wants to cash in when he hits the next level of FA max percentage in the new CBA. I've heard he's really only interested in 2+1 or 3+1 deals moving forward. The Clippers can still offer more though because they can use his Bird Rights and give him a 7.5% raise every year while everyone else only gives him 4.5% raises.
That's absurd. That makes him the highest paid player (so far) in the NBA... without having proven anything. I know he's an unreal talent but still... $29m per year to a kid. Wow! And oh... hello to some of you folks! I guess this is where the old ClubLakers crew/regulars went!
MJ earned and deserved all that $35 mill. He was a proven champion already when he got it. I suppose the only reason they did this is to lock him up before the insane new cap takes into effect. NOLA would lose in a bidding war for sure against the big market teams.
