Doesnt look good for us. Were gonna have to blow him away in our meeting. Lets see how this goes. Im nervous but calm at the same time i just dont wanna see us with some knee jerk reaction trades just because we got so and so and we should win now. Forget that. Sign a FA that wants to grow with the young guns and win many titles in the best market in the best state with the best weather. The cleveland lebrons traded their #1 pick for a veteran "star" and they didnt win a thing lets not make the same mistake
Hey this development was always going to happen, it's why the Spurs are the frontrunners for now. It's up to Mitch to convince Aldridge to come here. I DO find it strange that the Cavs would help the Spurs get a guy like Aldridge who keeps them competitive. Why help a team out if you're getting back Splitter or Diaw? Just for Cory Joseph? Seems like a pretty blatant attempt to help the Spurs and hurt the Lakers' chances at Aldridge. In doing that though, two things happen: 1. If they take back a big, there's no chance to sign Love and he's back in play or 2. They end up having to flip one of those bigs and we can scoop them up at a bargain.
I don't know who we would trade them for, that's the point though. What if it's Randle/Young for Chandler/Pick? I mean we have no idea. The Spurs are going to let go of a group of role players that's just a year removed from a Championship. Houston would be gutting their team of any/all the role players that actually make up for the problems that Howard causes and makes up for the defense of Harden.
Windhorst has already been on record in saying that the Cavs are offering Kevin Love the full 5 year deal worth over $100 million dollars. The ball is in Kevin's court...
A competent 3, a hardworking, low maintenance second tier 5...turn Randle loose at the 4 with "Mr. Bryant" and Clarkson [for now] in the backcourt. A bench of Russell [for now], Downtown Anthony Brown, Nance, Davis [?], Black [?], Young can be potent and competitive. All that and we have lift-off! Catering to these "name" free agents to fit their agenda? Irksome...
They have the chance, but are they seriously going to sink a max into Love, more than 48 million to Thompson, AND bring in Diaw or Splitter to go along with Varejao? We're talking something like 50 million dedicated to the PF/C spot on the roster. Is that likely?
If Aldridge is basically saying he would only come here if we gut the current team cuz he wants to be the center (or forward) of attention, I say forget him and move on. I mean let's face it, the guy is good...but he's not THAT good.
I think it is. I thought a sign and trade with them was the likeliest possibility this summer anyway. I would do that if I were them and I found a team with assets that I wanted: namely a person who can create offense other than LeBron.
Totally agree with this. Two young guards that will be giving teams headaches for years. Doesn't make sense to me to trade either one of them. We have either made brilliant draft picks or stumbled into them. Either way we are loaded and just need patience.
Diaw makes $7.5 million dollars this upcoming season. After he has 'non-guaranteed' salary for an additional 2 more years for 7.5 million dollars.
Patty's contract isn't bad: the following two seasons is what Mills is making: $3,578,947, $3,578,948
Exactly. No way i gut our team to please ONE player Were not the cleveland lebrons Even kobe had to endure some tough years before we got pau. If im the lakers i say rhis We got 5 time champ kobe thats rested and ready to pass the torch to you Two stud top 10 picks on rookie contracts Ample cap space to sign you AND max out another FA next yr Ownership that will take care of you towards the end A city that will embrace you and open up opportunities that you never thought possible Does that sound like something youre interested in? Yes? Sign on the dotted line If the answer deviates from yes other than to say thank you for this opportunity they can kick rocks Who's with me?
Right. Love would be making about 20 million, Varejao is making a little over 9 million, Thompson wants a max deal, and Mozgov is there for 5 million and he needs to get paid next summer. Of less consequence is the 2nd rounder Rakeem Christmas is also a PF. How much money are they willing to sink into the PF/C spot?
Windhorst said they are paying everybody. He said, 'Dan is worth 4 billion dollars; his independent businesses are doing well, and he knows he's going to have one of the league's highest payrolls next season.'
Well there ya go. Good ol' Dan is going to have to pay nearly 60 million for all front court players, two of whom have lengthy injury histories. Still, like I said before: it's up to Mitch to sell Aldridge on the Lakers. It's not our concern what other teams are doing, we can only do our best. I trust Mitch to make a great pitch.
Sounds like a mess there...James in his infinite yet astute business and player personnel acumen will somehow make sense of it all and be hailed by ESPN as the NEW AGE playa/GM. One..two...three of the mentioned will go. On topic: like Aldridge but he isn't worth all that reconstruction. He's not signing with the Lakers TBH. We're just a courtesy visit just to fluff up his value. Won't put credence on all this noise until I see a press conference lined up with him. Randle at the 4 [Aldridge's position] can be an impact player.
