Feel like we need a few more games to see how things will fit.

dallas just sat in the paint on him again. we've either got to bench him entirely or try something other than having him catch at the three point line.

i was watching with my dad yesterday and said if i was russ and they did that, i'd just go find my guy and post him wherever he's chosen to stand. at least then he's got to be occupied instead of playing center field on everyone else. plus i'd be in triple threat from a spot at which i can actually do things. if they send a guy to make the catch tough, they've negated the advantage they created by having their guy just stand in the paint.

anyway, that's not a magic solution or anything. it's just better than taking threes or trying to drive at a packed paint. the only real solution is not having him on your team.

Taken from another site but its true he hasn't played "better" this year

Per 36minutes (taking more shots to score slightly less points)
    21-22: 19.4 ppg on 16.6 FGA
    22-23: 18.9 ppg on 17.1 FGA

    Turnovers: per 36 min
    21-22: 4 TOV
    22-23: 4.4 TOV

    RAPTOR
    22-23: -3.2
    22-23: -3.6

    TS%
    21-22: 51.2
    22-23 48.5

Yet there is talk in the media about the front office being happy Ham was able to figure use him better? That better be a smoke screen.

when you're a bad player, using less = using better! best use is no use!

i still think he can be a net positive playing the middle parts of halves against the opposing bench, but that's it. i wonder if anyone's gone to the trouble of looking at those exact minute clumps. i mean, i know our coaching staff hasn't...but you know, people who care.

I think his first shift is helpful since we usually start flat. Same issue in the 3rd. But he needs to be limited to a strategic 20ish minutes a game. That's tough for a coach to do because of politics, available players, salary implications, and the temptation to play the HOF name. His minutes against starters really need to dip to 2 minutes...max.

yeah, i'm not sure it's politically possible to cut his minutes further. gotta rip the bandaid off. will anyone take him without demanding a 1st? i'm interested. at his price tag, you basically HAVE to get back at least one player who's as useful as he is right now.

He's still an NBa level athlete. Big difference between Schroeder and Bevs is that he can just up the tempo and blow thru unprepared defenses and second units which aren't as good.

However well coached teams will offset this. Anyways I bet his non 4th quarter numbers are probably better

Nets 18-2 run in which KD doesn't take a shot.

Be nice if Russ could provide something during this stretch without AD.

That would require him to be able to hit some outside shots.

Man that’s such a tough lineup.

    Kyrie (6’2) / O’Neale (6’6) / Warren (6’8) / Simmons (6’11) / Durant (6’12)

Kyrie is the only weak link defensively but you got O’Neale and Simmons with solid to elite perimeter D, Warren has been average and Durant has good shot blocking. But offensively, damn that lineup can just punish you and quickly. 4x 40% three point shooters and three guys who can all isolate in Kyrie, Warren and Durant and then Simmons running the break.

They’re in the ECF for me.

lol, i see you trying to pump warren even though he's missed 2/3 of the season and been ineffective in general, but i agree the nets are a real contender.

yeah, people talk about AD and lebron as likely injuries due to the load or whatever, but kd is carrying the offense and defense there like AD was for us before he got hurt. and kd is older and playing on a surgically repaired achilles. i'm not putting big money on bkn winning the war of attrition that is the nba playoffs.

anyway, this is the russ thread. good audition for him in orlando tonight. one of the very few teams that might consider paying him next year.
