I edited it now to give the meaning I meant, not that HE particularly lied. HE may have thought there was real traction from his talks with LeBron and AD, when in reality for the couple reasons I stated this was just wishful thinking. Pop wasn't going to do ANYTHING to actually help us and we probably all doubt DD would have actually signed here for MLE type money when he'd rightfully been making Star level and higher money.

Derozan is a pro, he knows the business side of the NBA. if the Spurs had said no, he would have known that. I don't see why he would have omitted that part.

What does "no" mean? Does it have anything to do with the reality of the chances that Pop would do a favorable deal for the Lakers which would actually help them? How would he know about what all such a mythical trade would have to involve for Pop to be OK with it? Do you think he sat down with Pop and went over the options of what the Lakers would have to give up? There was talk too (and again, I fixed my comment to be talking about all this after the fact talk OUT THERE that DD was a real possibility) (not that DD was lying ... could have been thinking erroneously it was possible) that maybe he'd come in FA just to be in LA for like around MLE money. Sure he was going to. :wasntme:

He never said that last part anywhere, and none of the insiders ever said that Pop refused to make a trade with the Lakers. That is accepted as so, it doesn't mean that it is. It would be a sorry a** agent, that hadn't talked to the Spurs about his client wanting to go to a particular team, they were moving him anyway, Im sure all options were on the table.

We had valid reasons for not doing that deal. You are still implying that this guy doesn't actually know how the League works. Lebron approved, so it was a done deal? No..I think there was more to it than that. It does pushback on the Lebron runs everything stuff.

Jesus can you read? Twice I told you I am talking about the “general” talk out there about Derozan having truly been possible in spite of the facts of the situation, and there was speculation he might come in free agency for that kind of money.

I think we benefited from the break in the bubble season. It allowed us to regroup from a health perspective and maybe we don’t win the title without that break. I mean every other season we’ve dealt with injuries to AD and/or LeBron.

But it’s definitely not an asterisk season. Everyone had the exact same opportunity and it was the most equal opportunity championship ever played and we were the best team.

Rondo benefited the most, he had about 6 months off. He was A1 Rondo in the bubble.

Most all of us had one hell of an enjoyable ride to that Championship. Plenty of thrills and chills too … but many more of the former. The gods of health smiled on us that year just like they mostly do for any championship team.

Well it changed after the biggest win of the season and none of the starters got hurt but you know you got to put a PG at the SF spot to make someone happy

Hell of a ride that year, in spite of all that chaos going on in the country,we turned it up to another level once the playoffs started. We did it for Kobe, I will always have love for that team.

Russ took his spot on the bench and shut up about it. Pat Beverly can do the same.

The player who benefited the most from the break was Kawhi, and yet he fell to pieces at the end of the Nuggets series.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't get seriously injured in the next 2-3 weeks.

    You mean this isn't sustainable?

It's not like he's logged over 64,000 minutes between regular season and playoffs or anything. I'm sure his 38 year old body will be fine. I'm sure the front office factored that in when building this team.
