At the very least, he has to be top 3 in MVP conversation at this moment

    Now THAT'S a jump

Ludabrow is a mf when he's healthy, which he hasn't been since game 5 of the finals. Seeing him dominate like this has been a joy to watch. Let's hope he stays healthy for a while.

If he can stay healthy, we have a shot to go deep. Even without any additions.

Some #s for AD on the season so far:

    Efficiency Rating #1
    Rebounds #1
    FG% (15 or more attempts) #1
    Blocks #2
    Points #8
    Steals #18

At his last 9-game pace, he would soon take one of the top 3 scoring spots and he is doing it with less attempts than the top guys. He will also be #1 on blocks. There is no stat for hounding the rim and scaring the crap out of would-be penetrators but you can be assured AD would be top 3 there too.

Wow! Just watched the game. AD is in Video Game mode now. I have never witnessed such an extreme turnaround.
    I guess he can stay…

What a frikkin' BLAST it is to see AD play like this! 55/17? OMeffingG.

I have called him SOFT in the past, and it's always been because I sense he's playing too tentatively, like he's afraid of getting hurt (again). When he plays like he isn't afraid of anything, we get this Wilt-in-1967-ish display of awesomeness. He's been completely stunning lately, and, since I've been a rabid fan from 1970-now (go ahead: make "old geezer" jokes), we've never had a guy of this size play like this. (I mean: hitting 3s, dribbling the ball upcourt like a guard, etc)

After the 17 point-4thQ-lead collapse to IND, w/IND on a btb, in LA, I had my doubts about this team. That was LAST MONDAY. O! What a difference a week makes!

I looked at the 6 game road trip and thought 3-3 was about as optimistic as I could reasonably be. Be we're 2-0 so far. Something has clicked very recently (I think it's more than just AD saying "I'm ready to annihilate everyone; gimme the ball!": the team is communicating well, playing some decent D, etc), and it feels like a dramatic turn for the team.

Man: with the way we're playing now, we probably come back home at or over .500, which I would've thought IMPOSSIBLE.

If Mr. Unabrow stays healthy, we can compete with anyone. ANYONE.

This is the best player in the league. Period.

My only remaining question is how long he will sustain this level.

The Lakers, seemingly not sure of who they are as a team, struggling on a long slog to get to .500, go on the road in early December, 2022.

AD scores 44 in MIL and Lakers win.
AD scores 55 in WAS, Lakers win.

Logically? I'm looking forward to watching him put up 66 in CLE on TNT, but the 77 he's due for in TOR should be a total thrill. Let's not even talk about the 88 he'll throw down on Embiid in Philly. That game will put us 1 game over .500.

I mean video game level bestiality in the paint is one thing, but 88 in PHI seems a bit like too much to ask. Seriously: there's such a thing as demanding too much from a player. 88? WTF have I been smoking, anyway?

No, but really: AD in CLE: 66/30/12 with 5 blocks. Book it.

Nobody could sustain this level, which is why this team still needs one or multiple trades. But that he CAN reach this level is also reason to make moves, make a better roster around him so he doesn’t have to do this nightly for us to win, try to get into the playoffs and then he can go to work like this again. I don’t know what trade I’d be looking to do, but we absolutely need moves to be made, AD has shown he’s worth going all in for.

How many beta-level players are able to do what he's been doing lately? Asking for a friend...

AD is and always been unstoppable when getting the ball on the move , great to finally watch him being able and accepting to maximize this strength with the Lakers

O'Neal did it once against The Other L.A. Team with 61. Something about being denied tickets on his birthday.

yeah, he's had some obvious schadenfreude for us in recent months that was quite transparent and annoying. he can go back in his hole.

to me, that's what finally did it. he had no choice but to assume the leadership position if the season was going to be saved.

don't worry; when he puts up 18 and 7 in a loss, the old tropes will come back out.

    lol exactly.

obviously the numbers he's been putting up lately aren't sustainable, but if he can put up numbers like he did in 19/20 and stay healthy that would be enough

just need to make a move before it's too late

I can see it now .... sirron motivated to run with that, FOJ22, and sticking a damn horn on his head with the Beta Unicorn caption.

    :ADeyeshift:

It wouldn't be cool, but on the flip side nowhere near as bad as what he put on Byron's head back in the day.

AD seems a little unwilling to just credit his health for this statistical jump but it is more than just that, he is in a rhythm and the team is in a rhythm with him, feeding him, also it seems like defenders are just straight afraid of him and the few that do attempt to get up in there when AD is posting them up just get side-stepped by him. For instance, Giannis didn't dare risk the fouls to really try and defend him (they exchanged a couple blocks) and sending AD to the line is not an effective strategy anyway. AD is just in a groove and his anticipation is exceptional right now.

It feels like he’s in one of those Kobe style scoring grooves right now.
