hard to believe he's not better than some of the options we have feels like there were other reasons out there we don't know about Dwight was effective in limited minutes
But did you feel that way prior to Jones coming back? Seems like it was almost unanimously an approved P/U for our off season based on his 10 day contract 2 seasons ago, around here. And Dwight was no longer the Dwight from Bubble ring year.
No, most of us (myself included) really wanted Jones back. He looked good in P&G last time. Went to SAC, contributed something like 8/5, was a good lob finisher and shot 66% from the field. Unfortunately, he can't get minutes here or hit anything from the floor. I do have to say that I would have supported bringing back Dwight (and Melo) for the minimum as well, but it just didn't happen. Dwight still has something left in the tank, if he gets limited minutes off the bench.
Jones honestly just seems a guy who likes the money: got a decent deal and he goes back to not running hard. I mean Bryant is running the floor a lot harder than Jones in his minutes and it shows in the production. Really annoying as I thought Jones had a future in the NBA as a hustle big but the dude just doesn't seem to care
I wouldn’t refer to a minimum contract as a guy who got the money. Not sure he doesn’t care, but I think he just lacks natural basketball instincts and IQ.
And for a center who has shown he's capable of shooting the 3 decently, so far has been making a big impact muscling and mixing it up and scoring around the basket. And yep running the floor really well. Don't know why Jones feels he can do that slower than TB and not have it noticed.
Well props to you if you'd have picked Dwight over Jones, to run with Bryant. Jones seemed to give us back the vertical game on offense and defense that Dwight seemed to be losing, and to be a good combo with TB's outside game. But we also got Jones pretty early, thinking other teams would be wanting him (my assumption) and didn't know we'd get Bryant for sure early on.
