I don’t think Lebron’s injury had to do with carrying the team too much, he played 10 games this season. It’s just an old man injury.

And I think that’s why we haven’t been great, the stars weren’t playing like stars to begin the year.

I also don’t think there’s any victory lap going on, it’s just nice to see AD doing well and not grimacing for a game or two. It doesn’t mean he won’t be injured again soon.

Ok, but you guys are acting like we were saying AD sucks. Nobody said he sucks, some said he’s brittle, some said we want him to be more aggressive. And that was a correct call, he was having 2-6 point scoring halves, a zero point 4th quarter. Not all his fault, they needed to work around him being doubled so much and I think shooting better as a team has helped some, I believe we are at 36% on threes for our last 7 after 20-some the first 7, something like that. Just makes me mad I guess that this FO won’t pick a direction, either get these guys some help now that you see AD still is that guy, or rebuild and don’t waste our time and his prime.

You’re probably right on LeBron, but I still feel like he was asked to do too much, asked to play too many minutes, and he got hurt way too early because of it. Should have used Russ to trade for depth, just how I feel.

you have to blow me away in an AD trade. like, something near what we paid. not quite that, because it's 4 years later, but near it. i don't think anyone's offering it, so you're better off thinking about how to build around your top-10 player who's only 30.

he might get hurt. but that stuff happens. what doesn't happen is getting your hands on guys capable of what he's capable of. it may be another decade for us to sniff that. and that may be if we're lucky. we've got short memories from the kobe decline years, i think.

    tl;dr: bird in the hand.

Not sure I understand your stance. Literally anyone who proposed trading AD didn't do so to get back equal value that would allow us to compete better.

We did so understanding that the rebuild is inevitable and we are not winning anything in the AD - Bron era, so might as well start it early and maximize the returns.

Waiting for AD to be 34 and then see what we can get for him, after being in 10th spot in the West for the last 3 yeats is dumb.

If there is an offer of 2 - 3 FRPs from a possible lottery team, I am doing it right now immediately.

As I said before, I’m not interested in trading AD. But I do want us to build a contender around him and Lebron. We’re not there nor were we last year. Do a better job Rob. We need some moves to surround AD with better fitting pieces.

    no.

and we don't plan on getting things for AD. we accept that we paid the price to get him, won a title, and have a player better than most teams employ for the remainder of his contract.

and he's only signed through '25. he'll be 32 at the end of that contract. if he's truly broken like everyone says, we use him as an expiring chip (possibly in a luka offer alongside the picks we don't waste on buddy hield).

if he's not broken, we get a bargain for two more years, as he's the rare max guy who's actually worth his salary in terms of impact.

anyway, check back with me after we lose two out of three to SA this week. maybe i'll be ready to trade everyone for anything.

agree here. we need to be more purposeful in our build. again, i think until the russ trade, we actually were. and i think our FA moves this year were definitely better than last year in terms of trying to work with what we have.

anyway, i don't know how many times i have to say that AD isn't our problem. the russ trade was and is our problem, and that's a hard one to solve.

only half joking. rubber hits the road for me this week. i know it hit the road for most fans three weeks ago, but we need to rip off some wins, and i'll be disappointed if we don't go 4-2 over the next 6. really should take all three vs. SA, though i'm allowing for a loss due to the difficulty of beating a team three times in close proximity.

anyway, i blamed the schedule for the early disappointment, and that excuse is gone after the next few games.

The price that the TWolves paid for Gobert should have fetched AD. That was stupid of Minny.

I agree that the next few games are pivotal. We're either going to start winning and build some chemistry (which still doesn't mean much in terms of getting anywhere this season, but at least the fans would have the opportunity to watch some decent basketball this season) -- or we're going to confirm we're almost as bad as DET and HOU, realizing it's time to blow it up and start building for the future. Let's see what happens.

Regarding LeGM’s extension: Yes it was only for business reasons(to stay in the media spotlight and sell tickets, not for basketball ones.
Trading AD for a young, possible future All Star, for a guy like Anthony Edwards( not saying him because they already have their two bigs), wouldn’t be terrible at all.
That being said, I would be fine with building around AD, but that’s not currently possible with LeGM’s extension. I think by doing this, the FO gave up in that idea.

I don’t think Jeanie Buss said to herself I’m going to extend LeBron simply for the money he brings in although with he and Anthony Davis (hopefully) healthier this year than the last two years I know we don’t have a chance to compete for a ring. You guys with that talk about her is as cynical as it gets. Yes it’s your opinion and that is mine.

good to see him step up in the absence of "others"

maybe "others" need to take a step back with their diminished effectiveness so we can win more often.

i think the decision to extend lebron was sort of obvious for management--just less so for lebron.

whatever, that's done. all future moves need to consider how to maximize AD or must involve selling AD at his current high value. i prefer the former by a wide margin but could understand the latter.

however, i don't think lebron is down with the latter, so we're going the way we're going.

This is why we’re all disappointed in the last two seasons except for a few here

Those plays are insane. The variety of mid range jumpers he was able to hit is especially amazing.

I’m just saying am tired of hearing she only did it to sell tickets and merchandise, knowing it’s not possible with those two players together on the roster to still compete for a ring, stated as fact. Sure Jeanie is not Jerry but I do not believe she would betray his legacy and outright lie to fans when she states the goal every year is to field a team that they feel has a chance to compete for a ring. Problem is the Russ trade has made it so these two years that everything would have to break pretty much perfectly with health of all key players, and role players we could afford to bring in, due to that trade, stepping up and all of them playing their top level bests in P&G compared to their most recent years’ best performances.

It's been 2 freaking games, let's see how ol' AD holds up. Tonight it's Poeltl and the Spurs, should be able to continue his run I think.
