Given the specific deficiencies of this team, and its only strength (defense), there's really no reason to watch this game without AD.

Watch, this’ll be the game we shoot well but still lose because of bad defense

AD was actually very dependable his first 6 seasons overall, 64-75 games per. It’s only in recent years he’s missed a lot. Which is very worrying to me, because he’s supposed to be in his prime. Shaq in his prime was very dependable. The last couple years you can definitely argue were freak injuries, but right NOW I feel like he’s just plain breaking down.

i think weezy's photos answer khmr's question with a "yes"? shaq played almost all of his first three years, and outside of that, his highs were in the low 70s with a fair amount of 50s and 60s.

and i agree with weezy that this year's AD back injury is much more concerning that the injuries from last year.

Using Shaq's 5 year stretch from 1999-2000 through 2003-04, since AD was one year younger and it matches with their respective, umm... "Title windows".
    1999-2000 Reg: 79/82 Playoffs: 23/23
    2000-2001 Reg: 74/82 Playoffs: 16/16
    2001-2002 Reg: 67/82 Playoffs: 19/19
    2002-2003 Reg: 67/82 Playoffs: 12/12
    2003-2004 Reg: 67/82 Playoffs: 22/22

He'd miss a number of 1-3 game stretches due to "sore feet" or "sprained wrist/ankle", but his biggest chunks of missed games were toe surgery (first 12 games of 2002), and a calf strain in 2004 (13 games). He was always good to go in the playoffs.

i mean, i get your reasoning, but it also conveniently elminates several seasons of shaq's that were like AD's last two. 54/51/60/49--I think one of these was the lockout season, but that's still two consecutive years of missing 30 games per followed by a 20-game per absence. and then a recovery to play 65+ for several years--the kind everyone says is impossible for AD.

yeah, i've given up. even our own fans hold AD to a different standard than everyone else.

one could even argue that it's reckless to be playing him after he re-tweaked his back in the last denver game. but we've gotta prove toughness or something. except kawhi leonard. he gets to sit out for fear of getting hurt whilst never once having his toughness questioned.

actually, that's not true--pretty sure that's what happened behind closed doors in SA.
