Head Coach Discussion: Canned Ham, Who Is Our New Coach?

What’s Luke Walton record with Nick Young and Tarik Black in his rookie coaching year’s first 10 games? Do you think Ham with LeBron and AD can match it?

 

With Russ not playing tonight, who do we think gets the start in his place? I'm thinking its Brown Jr.

if they win tonight without russ against a playoff contender in denver, ham legit can't start russ again without making it look like he's sabotaging the team

 

I get Ham’s point of view. He has a ex mvp that earns 47 million and theoretically as a coach he believes he can get something out of him. Otherwise we have 47 million sitting on the bench or cooling at home.

Unfortunately, Russ is terrible here.

Why is AR the first to get subbed after 5 minutes for Nunn who immediately bricks all his shots and turns it over on all his touches?

I am starting to get very pissed with the stupid a** rotations. Once more -- I get Mike Brown / Puke Walton vibes.

EDIT: OK... actually my bad -- reinserted him for Bron. That's OK. Nunn still sucks.

I mean I’d argue that the excellent defense he’s gotten the team to play that has lead to them even being in some of these games despite the team shooting 20% from three on mostly open looks is a testament to “what’s the coach for”

 

It was a PR move to uplift the team’s tainted image and the team was pressured by ESPN and others to offer a long time assistant coach a contract. He wasn’t the best available candidate but another stupid gamble to look good rather than competence.

Valid point. Personally I think we HAVE seen some decent actions that have resulted in success attacking the rim and getting easy buckets. But I’ll acknowledge that we should probably go even further in that direction.

Feels like to some extent he’s trying to gas up the team and telling them to keep shooting in hopes it gives them confidence to shoot through the struggles, but at a certain point that becomes delusional.

THIS I don’t get though. Who were the candidates that were obviously better?

I’d bet good money whatever other candidates people had on their list would similarly be getting grilled right now when this roster would have inevitably struggled under them just as much.

 

Stotts for one, Ham is a rookie coach thrust into the inferno that is LeBron and the Lakers.
