This trade is dead. Moving to NBA because the Queens do not belong in Lakers Discussion unless they are begging us to rob them of Boogie at some future point.

    Lakers trade - Russell/Randle/Young
    Lakers get - DMC

    Clarkson
    Kobe / Brown
    Brown / Nance
    LMA / Kelly
    DMC / Black / Upshaw

    + 2 cap holds - 67 Million total

Man if Durant was 100% lock in the bag no questions asked coming here next season, I'd do it.

I think that's too much. Plus, I think DMC's value will get lower and lower. The best chance they had to get anything out of the Lakers was the number 2 pick. Karl love his point guards. That we know because of his 'system' he runs and his connection to Lawson. As much as I love Russell, I'd part with him for Cousins. I'd do Russell (primary asset) + Young and other salaries to make it work. I'd want to keep, Clarkson, Randle, and add Boogie.

agreed. way too much for cousins. rather take my chances on the other FA bigs or the serviceable bigs after that. I am hoping and praying we keep russell, clarkson, and randle; then just sign a big please. .

Guys we're probably going to have to either go one or the other... this is completely the kind of thing the Lakers could do this summer.

I'm afraid this is exactly what we would do. I don't care if we had a prime Kobe and Lamar.... I would still want no part of Cousins. Just like Melo, he's fools gold. Melo appears to have a good attitude... Cousins is a clown with a great game. You won't change who he is at this point so the same crap that's going on in Sac will follow him here. We thought Kobe and Nash could change Howard and he isn't half as bad a Cousins.

I didn't watch more than a game of the Howard season. I'd not watch one next year if we rewarded Cousins with a Laker jersey.

We have guys with too bright of futures to risk on someone who can't control his emotions. Besides if Upshaw makes the team do we really need two guys who are headcases on the same team? IMO giving even just Russell is too much. Roll with the youngsters, sign some veterans and leave it at that. If we don't make the playoffs, fine. I just want to see THESE guys play together and develop.

i also would not even consider giving up russell for cousins. russell has way too much potential to give up for a guy who could easily become the complete opposite of what this team needs. cousins is the best center in the game but the youth we have in russell, randle, and clarkson is worth way more than giving up for cousins who could blow up at any second.

and it's not like we have no shot at landing a guy like aldridge or monroe either. let some other team land cousins and deal with the potential headaches

^yes. also, history says that sac will eventually end up moving cousins for a lot less than is being discussed right now. maybe the lakers wait and get him at the deadline for Kwame brown and stuff.

I really hope this is dead. I don't want to give up all this promising youth for Cousins. We finally have a PG that could be our franchise PG for years to come, and Randle hasn't even had a chance to show what he's got. I could live with losing Clarkson, but that's not enough for Cousins and we have nothing much else to offer. I just want to see what these kids have got, stick to the rebuilding through youth plan. You trade Russell and Randle and you lose 2 cheap players at important positions. We'd once again have to go looking for a cheap serviceable PG and PF (or C, depending on what Cousins would play). Don't wanna give up such potential on rookie deals at important positions. Give it a shot, see what the young dudes can do for a season at least. If you don't like what you see, shop them next summer and go for a big signing with Kobe's money off the books.

^Agreed. If this was a different player I'd consider moving our young guys for but it's Cousins. Sure he may arguably be the best center in the league right now but he's a known headcase with a douchbag as an agent. He puts up crazy good numbers on a team that hasn't reached 30 wins yet. Maybe he does get his head on straight here and doesn't want to rip Scott's head off, maybe he dominates for us and leads us to the Finals. I'd rather put my money on the promising young core we have. Sure it's not the "Laker way" and LA wants to win and win now but we all remember what happened the last time we tried to gamble to win now.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. We gave up so many assets to get Nash and Howard and it screwed us for years. Now we're finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel again, don't be hasty and go all out so soon. You've got 3 players that you can have for 3-5 years that could end up playing well above those contracts if they live up to potential, and much money to spend this and next offseason to surround the kids with talent. Give it a shot at least, try this rebuilding through the draft thing. Like you say it's not thought of as the "Laker way", but then we did draft Magic, Worthy, and AC Green (and really Kobe was a draft pick too even though he was traded to us). I'm not saying Russell and Randle are those guys, but you CAN build stars through the draft, don't always have to trade for them.

Agreed... Kupchak spoke of how Laker fans are impatient... I not one of them Laker fans. Build and they will come...high profile free agents that is.

The problem is I think the impatient fans are also the vocal majority and they are usually casual/bandwagon fans.
