Our supporters are doing a pretty bad job for the good of the team they supposedly support.

Russ is awful. I hate him. But if we run him out of the team, he's either untradable or we will lose valuable assets to trade him.
Only way is to be sort of delusional and focus on the positives until we are able to send him away. It's clear our FO wants to trade him, so we better not kill all his value.

He was pathetic shooting the ball. But he hustled well, got 5 steals while affecting others and gave some trouble to Kawhi in a few possessions. That's more than I expected from him in that side of basketball

i actually didn't understand pulling him with a minute left. you either pull him earlier than that or don't. it's not like the offense improved on the following possessions, and he was actually our best kawhi defender last night.

his offense was bad, but beverley's was probably worse.

Disagree. Russ the player has ZERO value. Nothing he does will change that on his team. He's a massive get out of jail free card for a team's accounting department. That's it.

Exactly. There is no GM dumb enough in the NBA that still has some sort of illussions about his value as a basketball player. The only value he has is as an expiring. That value won't diminish if we send him home.

Did he really blame Ham for his injury? Can I start wishing him another one?

Idgaf about his "spurts" in defense.

If he hits shots like a normal NBA player, we're up comfortably and are cruising to victory.

    Screw this guy...

By the way, the sentiment in the crowd isn't great with respect to Russ.

FWIW, and the significantly lower bar there is, he'll probably play better on the road.

Yes. But if he's unplayable, we will be the sellers in a deal. We will be the ones desperate because teams know we can't play him. And we will get fleeced into giving up assets just to get rid of him instead of using such assets to get better players.

But if there's a somewhat positive atmosphere around the team, in the arena, social media and whatnot where he's not constantly a topic, flooding comments' boxes with 'trade him', 'you duck's or going viral for anything he does, then we have more leverage to negotiate and actually take advantage of the biggest tradable expiring contract of NBA history and get a better deal for us.

I get media networks and fans from other teams mocking him and exploiting the situation, I don't get the hatred from Lakers fans as it only make the situation worse for the franchise that they (supposedly) support

That’s how low the bar is I was heartened that he at least gave some great effort on D and did give Snake some trouble a few possessions. But yeah hit a few shots or layups he’s still able to get to the rack on and we win the damn game.

It's not just the sentiment of the crowd: the whole team looked like they were at a funeral when Russ got the ball in the 4th

You're not gonna win games in this league with spacing like this from your lead guard.

There is no killing his value.. That damage is already done. There is no Team that wants Russ the Player. They want Russ's $47 Million expiring contract. We could bench him & make him wear a clown suit between now & the trade deadline & that wouldn't change a thing.
Russ's only "value" right now is cap relief for whoever picks him up... & most likely immediately waives him.

Was it in the first half where he shot that 3 two feet from the arc when there was like 14+ left on the shot clock?
    Bricked: LAC gets a score
LAL comes back: russ takes a corner 3. SOrt of open? Seemed contested to me and he should have drove IMO
Bricked: LAC get a score again.

    Just brutal

I actually think him off the bench makes sense for this stage of his career and his limitations: he can push the pace, play his way. the team will be less dependent on him shooting the 3 as teams aren't focused on shifting the defense toward Lebron/AD.

Now mentally is he ready: the answer is probably no but as much as I hate him as a basketball player he's not a bad guy just stubborn.

Like I said I don't think I've ever seen anything like this in all the years I've watched the NBA. Can you imagine a coach telling Shaq and Yao go guard the opposing teams PG: trust me it will work out just fine

teams have done it to rondo, i think. but yeah, it's...not great.

in fairness, when kobe played prime russ and rondo, he'd just stand with a foot in the paint the whole time.

Grown ups giving excuses is so unattractive, but from a professional athlete and an all time great? It just comes across as weak minded and pathetic.
