Westbrook and Schroder off the bench could work.

Yeah there was something like that much later in the year, but Vogel, who Russ claims never had any heart to hearts with him ..... is a "players coach" and still hoped to see better out of him plus we had so many guys out and so many that just sucked period.

I like this, because it’s much closer to Westbrook not playing at all. Was listening to Silver Screen & Roll podcast with Anthony and Harrison last night, they made some great points I hadn’t even considered. What incentive does Russ have to buy into this whole thing? They tried to trade him all off-season. They’re currently waiting to trade him when a better package comes along. They talked about human nature, how can you possibly ask someone to buy in and help us win when they can and will be gone at any second, how can you expect his teammates to fully embrace him or whatever when he’s gonna be gone? I wouldn’t be eager to join team huddles either, it’s a ridiculous situation. They compared it to other workplace scenarios that would be silly as well, I forget specifically at this moment, but it was good stuff, it’s not going to work, and of it would only make sense if there’s tension. They had a great segment on Jeanie and her recent comments as well, it’s worth a listen.

Basically whatever works while he’s still here. The bench could be it. Hopefully Schroder remembers how to play well with him.

AND .... importantly as mentioned yesterday, if he doesn't cop an attitude and is just "decent" coming off the bench in that role (of course we hope "good" at it) ..... this buys him a lot of good will (hopefully) to not be mercilessly booed for all the typical things he does in games that fans are raw from and disgusted about seeing again still in our starting lineup. And getting us off to crappy starts and hamstringing that lineup.

It is a contract year for him: he's made an obscene amount of money and has a bunch of businesses so unless he totally mismanaged his money he's got generational wealth. But a contract is a contract and we're talking a real chance at getting like close to 7 million for a vet MLE if he plays well vs being out of the league

It's not the best motivation but there is definitely some: 7 million is not something to balk at even with Russ's previous contracts

It's believable. Russ with his lame duck status, no one gives a damn about his feelings. Of course, the Lakers could have done the same with Vogel who also did not have a healthy LBJ or AD for long stretches. And it's reported that Russ didn't like how Vogel used him, but he's ok with coming off the bench here, maybe we were wrong about the guy to an extent.

I don't remember watching at all. I watched more of Schroder and Paul.

Nevertheless, I would imagine both of them attacking downhill in space and in transition could possibly work against second units. Unfortunately, Schroder is out today, but let's see how it goes tonight.

And again, I'm sick of this em effer's b******g about no trade happening and Pelinka's "failure" at that because he "didn't get it". What a moronic take. We all heard the reporting of how it was going with the other teams in Indiana and Utah, where most of the interest was after the Nets fell through, that were trying to screw us with the picks asked for to take Russ whom NO ONE wants. So if Rob makes one of those deals blowing up any shot a real star potentially asking out in the future, would this a-hole be praising him for it? No, he'd be ripping him for mortgaging the future to fix HIS mistake in trading for WB. As if that was Rob's call. Which deal would Irwin have mortgaged the future for that he had actual knowledge of what was on the table from those GMs. GTFOH.

Did you read the entire article? Listen to the podcast? It’s a little more nuanced than that, that wasn’t the point I was trying to make, it was their discussion about this and how it can’t go on for too long or this season is sunk. Like I can’t stop posting relevant and IMO quality articles and podcasts because some here don’t like the writers and hosts, I felt it was an excellent show.

Yeah, sorry not directed at you. But he wants to criticize that Russ is still here as some short sighted Rob failure, when what was the good deal and trade that screwed us for the future he would have done? Has he ever said?

He’s been in favor of the Indiana trade since it was first rumored, even the one involving Daniel Theis. He just wants to move on from Russ for the good of the team, give them a shot to contend. I’m not in agreement with him on that trade, but many are and I can see their side of it, this roster minus Russ and adding Hield and Turner looks pretty solid after seeing these guys play, they try, they’re athletic, they defend on a decent level. I do not personally think the trade makes us contenders, but I do think it makes us a definite playoff team with an outside chance if healthy, so yeah I get it.
