Not being in the pre-game huddle, not coming to that defensive huddle with 4 other guys, including Bron and AD, it doesn't seem he's happy at all.

Oh, BTW, last night I had this dream of Russ still playing for us in the middle of the season, but his name wasn't Russell Westbrook, it was Erik Brickson?!

    He's got to go period.

    Can't wait too long.

    January/February is too late.

Season will be lost by then.

I think he's trying to be the professional, but I don't think he wants to be here.

And would you or I after we tried shopping hom up until the last week before training camp?

    He's also a clunky fit.

Guess we will have to wait, though.

All valid points, and I'm not even arguing that. I'm simply saying his attitude is bad, which I can sort of understand, but I don't want him on my team.

    Lol.

Rob is going to have a make a choice.

    But it's still the preseason.

Our first 10 games aren't easy.

I believe we'll be competitive, but will that result in wins? And if we're not winning, will that result in an early season trade?

the defensive huddle thing could have been as simple as him not realizing it was happening until it was too late. i don't know about the other; that did look weird.

i don't think we'll panic, even if it's really bad the first 10 games. i think we'll give it 20, minimum, which is fair. at that point, if he's still not playing well or fitting in, i'm guessing we'll send him home to wait on a trade.

but i don't see us making a panic trade after we were patient in the summer. that would be bad, imo.

i imagine that's the time the FO is thinking about, too, tbh. if we're not good, pressure will be quite high to do something then.

Well that didn’t take long for Russ with the attitude return in spite of it being a contract/NBA career (ending) year. Figured he wouldn’t last long with Bev (of all people) try to lead HIM (of all people) …. the 2nd not joining a huddle clip. But his deliberate ignoring of the pre-game huddle right above that before we even get to the first real game of the season says it all. Fans already raw from his negative effect on winning play last year have now seen what it’s going to be like again this year in spite of all the happy HS talk and are going to rip him a new one with boos from the home crowd the first time it’s warranted and then that’s that. What a disaster he has been and horrible idea …. thanks LeBron. Another guy himself to watch with the attitude if Ham’s schemes aren’t putting the ball into his hands as much as he wants for the record chase, whether they’re good Xs and Os or not. Plus how he gets as soon as he knows there’s simply no chance.

LeBron isn't Russ. He doesn't need 30 shots to score 15 points.

Yes I agree. But we'll see how well he's getting and making his shots in this pretty radical departure from how he also has played most of his career. If they're not coming easy as he's used to and gets annoyed with it there could be a problem. Especially if he figures a chip is impossible anyway because of the supporting cast and Russ still being the anchor he is toward that.

Yeah, once, OK. But I think when you do it twice in one game including the full team pre-game huddle you can call it like it is. He's a dissident. He's disconnected from the team emotionally regardless of what he says he is professionally, that's BS. Prima donna, a self-important overpaid spoiled athlete. Can't wait for reality to set in next off-season.

Those videos are not a good look, but I can convince myself that these videos about him not joining the huddle are being blown out of proportion.

But from what I’ve seen in pre-season so far (which admittedly hasn’t been a lot) I think our rotation of guards outside of Russ is perfectly adequate. Nunn, Beverley, Schröder, Reaves, Walker are more than enough to collectively cover us at PG and SG IMO.

I don’t think Russ provides any specific skillsets that we need that isn’t already provided by another guard. We’re deep enough at guard this year that we don’t need to force him into heavy rotation minutes because we simply need the production.

So let’s see how things play out once the regular season starts, but if he continues to look like a poor fit on the court and/or shows further hints at an attitude problem, I’m becoming more and more comfortable with sending him home early. We don’t need to drag this out.

some of the passes he threw early in the game last night were sort of egregious. like, we get it, you don't want to pass. it was like when kobe refused to shoot for a half.

    I believe him.

And trust me, I still want him gone.

But there's so much disdain for WB and the Lakers fan base.

I think we're reading too much into this, IMO.

Now, with respect to his fit on the court? He needs to be traded.
