Aldridge more valuable than Jordan, especially after Upshaw "fixed". Yeah give Randle lots of minutes off bench as 6th man to back up L.A. reducing wear and tear on him and also some at SF. Going forward, it has to be all about the "greater good" to win championships with regard to who starts and who kicks butt with bench mob just like Golden State did it. Championship teams need to be deep. Too early to be worrying about next year when who knows if we get KD or not, not to mention Aldridge this year.
too early to be worrying about next year, but let's plan the championship squad already . It would be great to have a guy like JC coming off the bench, I'm just worried that if he's a) working his a** off to become better all summer long and b) playing very well, he might get upset about coming from the bench long term. I guess that's a good problem to have and would be happy if we got LMA, I'm just wondering how it will affect the young guns.
If he really doesn't like playing center much, which seems like that is the case we need to have a solid plan to assure him he won't be there much.
If we drop 20M on him, we won't really have a lot of options to move him out of the C spot. It would cause a ripple, moving Randle to the bench for sure, and asking Tarik to man the bulk of Center minutes. Scary.
You miiiight get Davis to bite for cheaper than his actual worth if he's given a starting role on a team fighting for the playoffs.
Then we'd still have to move Young; right? Or at the very least get creative about dumping guys and signing for Vet Min?
We'd probably have to dump Young for less cash back somehow yeah. There's only about 2-4 million left for Davis without that move. But if it's me I think ill prefer Davis/more minutes for Nance to Young/Black starting.
Of course if we can somehow get Young moved that helps, but I don't see that happening. One thing I don't ever understand is the exceptions teams receive. Would Ed be willing to take it?
This is the way I look at it: This was our starting lineup last year: Nash (injured), Bryant, Wesley, Boozer, and Hill, right? If Tarik starts at center and Byron who's been on record saying he wants to start Russell, this is our starting lineup next year: Russell, Clarkson, Kobe, Aldridge, Tarik? Any better?
^Both heading into the season; Tarik and Clarkson developed chemistry. Tarik started center for Houston when Dwight was out; they won 70% of those games when he started (small sample size)
I've seen he's looking for 3/36 million, but it really depends on the situation. Also, that's his asking price so he'll start high and work down from there.
I mean Tyson would have to settle for a lot less money AND we'd have to find a taker for Nick's contract without taking money back. It's possible but I'd say unlikely.
Understood. Listening to the Insiders Show on ESPN with Windhorst, Stein, and some other guy; they said the Spurs have figured out a way to offer LMA a max deal. Ginoboli, Duncan take a pay cut, Splitter and or Diaw could be traded, etc. They all confirmed that in order for this too happen Green and Bellineli are gone.
