Yeah, they have some maneuvering too do; I think that's too our advantage. We could just sign him outright. Offer him a max, hopefully he signs it quickly, and we could work on filling out the other holes in this roster. Time is of the essence because deadlines are looming, and I don't want to be left signing one-year rentals AGAIN
Well they have to find a way to get rid of Diaw and Splitter because they'll be redundant anyway. But even if they do, they'll end up letting go of a lot of their bench players, right? Bellinelli, Green, dumping off Splitter and Diaw... I mean what's left? What would Aldridge be signing up for next year? Could the Spurs convince almost all of these guys to come back under market value or could they find suitable replacements for their system under market value? I don't know. I know the Lakers already have a roster full of role players and enough cap space... just sayin'...
Well Damn.. Just squash my dreams why don't you? I guess that's even more reason to dump Swaggy to make room for someone like Davis, but to be honest. I'm liking Young's fit on this new team much better..
It's widely reported that Aldridge has no interest in playing Center... Who do we get for the 3-5 million we'd have available to play there? You think you can convince Ed Davis to take a much lower salary than his agent is looking for? And who goes to the bench between Clarkson, Randle, and Russell?
I'd guess he'd be too expensive, but it might depend on what happens with Marc. I've seen estimates for him going anywhere from 6.5 to 9+ million per year.
Upshaw by Christmas? Boom Boom in meantime with Sacre backing up? Why are we all of a sudden talking like it's the last piece for championship push this year? Make the playoffs, do some damage, sign KD. Piece of cake. Hell Nash made Sacre look decent when both of them were starting for a short while.
I'm not saying anything about a Championship, just asking a genuine question. If we get Aldridge, someone has to play Center. You want Tarik playing Center as a starter? That's fine I suppose. You still have 3-5 million or so in cap space to fill out the roster. Maybe a backup PG then?
That's what I was wondering as well. I suppose it will depend on the matchup, but would expect Randle to start on the bench the most out of this trio - Jordan had a very good year and earned the starting spot in my book and Russell seems to be the next big thing. Besides, our guards will be playing their natural position, if Randle should start it would probably be at the SF spot... Which I am not sure he can do very well. For one year this should not be a huge problem, but how will we address this issue if Kobe resigns again and all three of them do very well the coming year? LMA seems not to be center material, Kobe will start as long as he is playing, if those three become as good as most of us expect them to, this could turn into a bigger problem. This is why I would certainly prefer us signing a center this year, even if he's an ex-clipper .
We have the answer in our hands. Hell the Lakers should be made aware of, so they can reach out to Punk for how best to do this most quickly. Like they were going to need therealdeal to let them know what he saw that was troubling about Towns' lower body.
If we do get LMA I'd imagine we try to get Ed back with whatever we have left, if not then Black starts? Regardless I think Randle at that point becomes Lamar and be 6th man running the offense for the bench.
Robin Lopez made about $6 million for the Blazer's last year. So he's a possibility. He's also familiar with LMA. Otherwise, we could take a look at some off-the-radar vets. Emeka Okafor is rumored to be available despite not playing for nearly 2 years. Bynum may or may not be ready. But he's probably more likely to be heading to New York for Phil & Fish if he's healthy. They're looking for Tri vets. They may offer him more $$. We may just have to try to depend on a younger guy like Tarik Black if Davis, Koufos, or Lopez won't come over.
Yeah, let's unleash our undrafted beast on the league. As a all-time great optimist, I could see him having a fantastic season and become the steal of this draft. That still doesn't solve the problem I was reffering to though
I'm comfortable with T-Bo at Center. If we do sign LMA/Love though, I think it's a must to trade Nick, maybe also package a S&T with Lin/Ellington for a decent Center or simply get relief to sign a Center that gives us the best value.
Whoa whoa whoa there, all time great optimist? I'm a master, what would happen if we had a podcast? Hmmm....
