Oh stop. You with a reply like that …. what a shock! What does a slightly rolled ankle have to do with anything besides give you something to grump (more) about?
The most common injury in basketball …. a fricken rolled ankle he says he’s almost over. S*** happens. Never a good sign before camp?? Are you for real?
might want to check his #s, his highest # of gms played was 70 last yr, so saying he's somehow getting hurt w/o camp or games isn't some "grump" statement
Lonnie had 2 knee surgeries prior to his first game in the NBA and pretty much missed his entire first season with his on-court time totaling 6 hours that season missing 65 games totally. He's had 2 other knee issues last season (only missing 4 games from those). But also ankle, leg, shin, toe, wrist and illness causing him to miss 35 more games in his other 3 seasons. He's actually been ok the past 3 seasons as that's a .853 availability rate (forgetting his first season entirely though). The 2 meniscus tears so early on are troublesome. At least we only have him for 1 year. He's got athleticism, hops, has shot well although increasing his 3s attempts doesn't seem to be helping that %. If he's on court with LBJ and AD he's gonna get a lot more open shots than he's used to. If he develops he could be a really good player but will he?
Yeah, I’m pulling for him to be productive but there’s legit questions with him on a few levels including injuries.
guys, he's salary ballast and a flier. he doesn't factor into most people's theoretical rotations. relax.
We heard the same thing with THT and then buried him behind a $47m Russ. Walker could do well or could never see the court. Based on the depth in the backcourt neither would surprise me.
I wasn't Vogel's biggest fan, so I can't say if it was Russ, or Frank's lack of imagination in using Talen. In general, I think we have to get away from judgment on players, based off of how they looked, or how we think they would have looked in Vogel's system. He's going to get his shot or we wouldn't have signed him so early. It's up to him what he makes of the opportunity.
yeah, didn't look like much of an ankle injury. was there a clip of him yelling "that's that 31% baby!", which i think was reference to the rap that he can't shoot? because his three looked as on target as swider's, if not moreso.
Oh I definitely get that. But we need as many guys who can contribute as we can. So I'm pulling for him being able to contribute on both ends. If he can hit threes even better.
my guess is that the guard rotation is russ/schroder and bev/reaves right now, with walker and nunn being guys that will get a chance if someone gets hurt. and the 3/4 spot will be all AD/lebron/JTA with a little brown mixed in. i think it's good that we have so many guards, tbh. i might wish to trade one of them for another 3/4 type (or have just kept stan), but having an abundance of talent at the guard spot is better than at the c spot, imo, at least in the modern nba. wouldn't be surprised to see some rick carlisle 3-guard lineups at times this year.
