I've been a fan of this pick from the start.

Everyone has been crying over this because they feel like he could have been taken in the 2nd. That's beside the point if Mitch and our scouting department believes in picking him at 27. I think he'll be a pleasant surprise for us with his defense at the SF position and his improved mid-range shot. The guy has clearly overcame a lot already in his bball life with the ACL and then croms disease. He's a mature, hardworking, good character guy and all that does matter, just ask Greg Popovich and the Spurs.

    I'm excited about his potential

A lot has been made over his tweet back in 2012 bagging on Kobe, yet he also posted tweets praising Kobe after that. You know what will make Kobe happy with him, tough aggressive play in practice so he won't have to go into a soft as charmin tirade. I'm fine with the pick after doing some research on him.

The Spurs were all over Nance, reportedly. I was reading up on Nance on a Spurs site.

But didn't they only have the one pick and it was before ours?

The article didn't say that he was their top choice. It did say that they were very interested in him.

Gotcha. I think there was some strategy involved. Anthony Brown was a guy definitely on our radar and we got him for cheaper than we had to.

I was looking at his measurements again this morning. 6'9 220 7'2 wingspan. Byron said he had a 46 inch vertical! Mitch kept saying he had off the charts athleticism. I think Scott said he needed to work on his ball handling; also, I think his shooting. This pick has me more excited than yesterday, though.

Seriously 46"?, that's crazy!! The videos didn't show it yet from combine workouts but he's still coming back from an ACL injury it's been also reported. What were the measurements from the combine? (google is not my friend, it datamines my a** non stop) [IMG]

46" would be the same as his dad before the injuries set in. As a 7th or 8th man on a very good team he seems to fill a need but on a team only 3 or 4 deep in NBA talent he seems like a real reach. Why not take the risk with a second rounder?

That's a legitimate concern, man. We're not done with this roster, yet, obviously. I'd try to move Kelly, though, for starters...

I would have been perfectly happy with this pick if it was #34 and Anthony Brown was #27.

Quite honestly, I wanted RJ Hunter at 27.

Sounds more accurate. If it was 46 his head would be above the rim like a prime Lebron once was.

If his vert was 46" at 6'9" it would put him above Lebron and Vince Carter and into superhuman category :D

I did want RJ Hunter as well.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Nance can become a good defender.

We're set on guards IMO. We got a 3 headed monster plus Jabari who still has great potentiAl and can score, proving so already I might add.

I'm not sure you're saying this, but I'm pretty sure neither VC nor LBJ have or had a 46" vertical. Got a reference?

Edit: you said above. Right on.
