Lol..and he and AD would immediately ball out and get a ring or two...while we are stuck in the lottery. They would become two of the most hated former Lakers of all time!!!

If the Indy deal was going to happen it probably would have by now.

Yup, I know a lot of you guys have been preaching this for a while … I think it just didn’t hit me until now when keeping the picks is sounding more and more like the only option we have, so might as well take solace in it lol.

On your side note, I still think the Schröder trade made sense and was fair for us to give up the pick. The Thunder were starting to gear towards rebuild, so just Danny Green and a second rounder wasn’t going to move the needle for them in exchange for the runner up to sixth man of the year. The pick was THE asset that OKC wanted and in fact I think when the news first broke Green wasn’t even mentioned. The pick we gave up was so late in the first round that it was pretty much a second rounder anyways. That trade was widely seen as a steal for us.

But giving up a first in the Westbrook trade? Absolutely egregious. We should have RECEIVED more draft compensation from Washington, not the other way around.

That’s fair, but I’m not sure we do expect to actually compete for a ring. It’s been reported that we won’t trade both 1sts for any deal that doesn’t put us into contention, so if we don’t make a deal with those then that’s basically conceding we won’t be contenders. The roster as is, it’s not a contender, we seemed to have put it together thinking we could for sure get Kyrie. I don’t think for a second Russ will sit home, if he’s here he’ll play, I’m just saying I’d RATHER do that than do a bad trade. I’d trade him for any decent pieces we can get, but not for first round picks unless it’s multiple starters.

This is fair as well, I just feel like a better GM could have gotten it done without the first, maybe a couple seconds. But I could be wrong, I’m just annoyed and bored right now, this year is gonna be so bad if we don’t move Russ, and the league knows this and is gouging us.

so i've had a few hours to process, and i have questions re: the knicks. did they just not want mitchell that much? because imo, this package is maybe less than the whatever was being rumored (6 picks!!11).

anyway, i'll be curious to hear the spin coming from all sides. it's weird to me that the knicks blew 25 per on brunson, extended barrett at even more, and then were like...mitchell's not worth obi toppin and picks.

and i'm not sure i buy that utah was even that interested in sexton or markannen. they could have signed sexton to that offer sheet and had him for free, imo. cleveland clearly didn't want him.

just seems weird to me for almost all parties (i actually liked what cleveland was doing with the three bigs, though i can see why a star would appeal to them).

i feel like this is pushback against everyone asking for two unprotected picks basically just to spite us. i mean, it's never taken that to move an expiring contract unless you're getting something good in return.

i think we went back to indy saying we'd give them the picks, and they upped the ask again. if that's the game, i guess we're screwed. but some of these teams will regret it, imo.

Rumors are flying but it sounds like the Knicks offered Barrett and multiple picks but Ainge just kept trying to get more.

That’s my guess as well. Once our other options started drying up, the Pacers upped the price. Especially since they likely didn’t want to deal with us anyway.

"Whole lot" as in Conley, Bogdanovic, Clarkson. I'm not getting wet over this.

we get stuck with 2 contacts, with 2 more years though, you always have to take that into account with this team. I like it better too but...

You can always re-trade players like this though. You aren’t technically stuck with the contracts, because deals like that are ones that are so often moved and used for salary matching. Even Keith Smith made a good point about Theiss’ contract on the Front Office pod today, I wouldn’t WANT him or his deal, but it’s 9 mil and combined with Nunn can be re-traded with Nunn for a 15 mil guy. We need to think more like that, way too much preserving cap space for a weak free agent class going on. The Lakers have almost always gotten our stars via the draft or trades, very rarely free agency.

Maybe Mitchell told NY he didn’t want to play there.

Hmm Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse and those bright Cleveland lights or Madison Square Garden, Times Square, endorsement city. Anything is possible.

Cavs package is just better I guess. Picks will likely not be as high though

I’m not saying it’s the right decision but anything is possible. Maybe you didn’t want to play for Dolan.

The Knicks original deal is better than what the Jazz ended up with from the Cavs.

RJ Barrett is a really nice young player, he’s better than Sexton. You add in Robinson who’s a solid starting caliber center, another young prospect in Toppin… and also consider the fact that the Knicks still probably wouldn’t have been very good so their picks down the road would be worth more.

Cleveland’s going to be a playoff team for the next 3-5 years in the East, so those picks wont be lottery picks.

At least I hope this is the case and we all LOL at Ainge for not taking the Knicks deal years from now. The Knicks might luck out and fall a** backwards into the next superstar with one of those picks.
