Super. WOJ's take on DAR's workouts, interviews with Lakers and equally wanting to be one like Okafor. Before the draft WOJ wrote this. Awesome. Similarly being told by no nonsense good coach when younger, same as Jahlil .... hey you're not all that, and here are holes in your game which need to be addressed. Feelin' better about the pick. For sure Jack ought to be back in his seats. I doubt he sold them off already. Will be fun, same as with Jordan last year, watching DAR meet and play against the first time and 2nd time all the great guards in the league. If Clarkson was able step up and not wilt I have no doubt Russell will be up to the challenge as well.

    :)

I know. How many 7 footers do they have now? They are out of control. Love how our pick essentially put Henkie on 'tilt. He got stuck in 7 footer mode for about 4 picks.

Their secret plan is take the league by surprise by doing the opposite route and running an all 7-footer team.

Russell has that quick release much like Thompson and Curry. Doesn't suck. [IMG] [IMG]

I love his passing ability and he can clearly space the floor too.

    Some thoughts on D'Angelo:

The highlights of him don't quite do him justice, in that it gives off the impression that he's all flash, when that's not the case. There are several, simple things that he does that stand out to me.

-His passes are crisp & accurate. He gets shooters great looks because of this.
-Great decision maker in terms of understanding where the ball should go next. He makes the types of passes that got Luke Walton playing time.
-He sees sequences, often 2-3 passes ahead. There were many times where he'd make a simple pass to a teammate, and then point to where it should go, or if he was on the weak side, he'd be doing the same. (and not demanding the ball for himself, just the open guy)
-While he's not a good on ball defender (and I'd moreso describe him as a lazy on-ball defender than a bad one...he's solid when he tries), he's a solid off of it. His understanding of how offense works helps him be a step ahead, and take passes away.
-Really good rebounder for his position. Again...he's a step ahead of everyone else on the court mentally, so he simply gets places before other guys do. This is how Kidd & Bird were great rebounders for their position.

I heard they are going to sign Brook Lopez and DeAndre Jordan in the offseason. The thought is Embiid with his between the legs dunk was miscast as a center and is destined to be a pg. Noel, with his amazing outside shot that resembles a t-shirt canon firing a brick at a window will be this next generations shooting guard. Obviously Jahlil was going to be our 3 and D wing. Now Philly will steal our forward thinking idea.

Someone else posted this, but please watch:

Here's the short version: he identifies a target 10% faster than even John Wall and Kaepernick. And he does crazy things with the ball.

Yeah, it's a very cool video. The sidespin he was putting on the ball to make the around the wall pass was amazing in that they didn't teach him how to do that. They just set up the test and he figured out on the fly how to beat it. Kid has a problem solving brain that translates to the game. Going to be nothing but fun watching him develop.

And he's only had PG experience for 2 years... it's quite mind-boggling. Hope he keeps developing his passing skills to somewhere near this level

Steph Curry makes some sick passes but I'm getting the impression that Russell has even more upside than him in that regard.
