LMAO He won’t be back. And if he is the fans won’t show up or won’t watch, can’t put a product that bad out there. Lakers fans will show up and cheer for very bad teams that they LOVE, that actually try, but not that abomination from last season.

I believe it's another indication that the 3 don't fit, as all the remaining underlying data shows

There’s no optimism when we have this again next season

cranjis's figures were really interesting, but i think he partially misinterprets them. he states that counting stats aren't capturing the advanced metric as a blanket statement, but that figure demonstrates a pretty strong correlation between the two. the better way to frame it is that russ is the exception to the general pattern, not that there isn't a general pattern.

on the other hand, the defense/rebounding plot demonstrates something closer to a lack of relation (being good defensively as a guard doesn't strongly predict being a good rebounder, and vice versa). once again, though, russ is bad at both.

anyway, one thing that stood out to me from each is that my suggestion from months ago about swapping russ out for conley being a HUGE upgrade was accurate. we should explore that again. conley's an absolute waste on a tanking team, and i can't imagine there's much of a market for him.

russ/cash/protected 1st for conley/bogdanovic. could sub beverly and gay for bogdanovic, too, but we don't have the roster space (and there's no one i really want to cut).

11-10, which is 1/4 of the season is still 11-10. Making that a 43-39 total record for the season. Mediocre as it can be.

Russell Westbrook blows and so do AD and Lebron and the whole team when that clown is playing with them. It's science.

Still a bunch of nonsense. Those guys played in 5 straight games together all season. That would have carried slightly more weight if it was at least 21 games straight. Jumping around an entire 82 game season, in order to cobble up some stat being presented as definitive, is being disingenuous. The C Bags were 23-24 in late January and 10th place in the East , with a core of Smart, Tatum and Brown that had played together as starters for the last 4 seasons. Using your logic, that should have been an indication that they weren't working as a trio. That team finished in the Finals. Those three guys all played in over 90 games a piece last season too. Availability is important , you can't work out anything, if you aren't actually playing together.

Waits for his rote reply on Russ marathon blooper clips, “meh you can make those on anyone”. Yeah? Let’s see one Yakkity Sax level, marathon, bricking off top of backboard, air balling 2 feet over and under the rim, telegraph passing repetitively to opponent, blowing easy lay ups, brain farting turnovers compilation tape for another current “superstar” salaried player?

    It really isn't nonsense.

If WB was even a league average shooter, I would say you might have a point.

But he's usually one of the league's worst when you take into consideration all of his advanced metrics.

    Just a bad basketball fit

Meh..you can produce a highlight reel to imply anything you want with NBA players. It's called selective editing

That's why we point out things such as stats and don't just look at the surface stats.

    He's awful.

I did like the Gobert dunk...

He needs a team with no real championship aspirations where he can just stat stuff.

    Exactly.

That's fine. Just not in Los Angeles.
