Ham comes across like a true leader something we’ve missed around here. I think the staff overall is solid and we will be fine with X’s and O’s but he will have to adjust to being the head guy.

We are a long way from a star studded roster but at least we got hungry hustlers. (no red light district, I just like alliterations) Healthy we can make a little noise. The big improvement will be not having our eyeballs burned out from watching guys too lazy to pick up a loose ball, slide a half-step to cut someone off while blaming someone twenty feet away. Another one is not blocking out or jumping for a rebound. We got some high energy guys that have shown they might be better with playing time. Ninety-nine percent of me wants Russ traded still. The one percent of me that loves chopping holes through three feet of ice in sub zero temps on a windy lake to catch a tiny fish while being stalked by a pack of wolves wants to see what Ham can do with him. No LT, I have not lost my mind completely...lol

Why would anybody want back for redemptive purposes makes me chuckle.

    Good answers from Ham, though.

    He can handle the spotlight.

    He's built for this...

Dude you must REALLY love to fish.

    :Shaqsurprised2:

I hear you with even more than just curiosity to see, from Ham’s statements of his discussions of utilization plans with Russ and the latter being in contract year/save what’s left of career mode …. rather than make a really bad deal to get rid of him now before we see if it can happen and have better leverage at deadline or keep if working and have the expiring ourselves. > 1%.

But we’re back to the bet LOL that Slick wouldn’t make a month ago with me and then was crowing I was lucky a couple days ago that he hadn’t. After seeing how destroyed the relationship is mutually between LeBron and Russ by the logistics of their seating and their non acknowledgement of one another behavior at the first Vegas SL game …. there’s just no way he’s going to stay. James knows the impact Kyrie can have replacing him and is putting all his and Klutch’s efforts behind the scenes to make it happen picks be damned of course.

Just got done listening to the above Ham interview. Recommend it if you have an hour.

Only real scoop is that they're still talking to Sheed. Ham has one spot left and there's a few candidates they're looking at. Sounds like it's Sheed's spot though. Key with all his hires is they're all guys who can roll up their sleeves and get on the court. Mentioned Sheed helped him work with his players when Ham was coaching in the D-League

Plenty of good stuff on being our coach. His assistants. Plans with the big 3. Said there will be a heavy focus on D and managing minutes this year.

Here's the timeline breakdown from the video

I'm happy Darvin is ready. Now, get him some help, Rob, or sit WB down for the year if you can't get rid of him

Was thinking of the similarity of Dwight, with his past prime but still next level athleticism and ego, not by a long shot ready to embrace playing like Tyson Chandler next to Kobe Bryant …. and Russ being asked to play a Jrue Holiday role for Lakers this season. Not feeling confident about that. Plus Dwight back then would likely have been capable of actually doing it. Is Russ? Rhetorical question.

I really don’t think this Lakers job is as attractive as you give them credit . I don’t think there is any kinda pressure on Hamm to do well . I see him more as in “ ok Just coach this team until we figure out how bad we are… kinda like put this spare tire on until we get to the tire shop . We needed a Head coach cuz LeBron can’t coach every game .

Not according to Jeanie Buss, who I believe is not a liar to the Lakers fan base. Realistically she says, and I subscribe to this too (vs win a ring or who gives a crap type of fandom) ..... that only one team can win a ring each year. It's extremely hard. And there's a multitude of luck factors each year that figure into it, one of which of course is health for all teams. But she says the goal for the Lakers is always to attempt to field a team that has a "chance" to compete for a ring. Certainly the expectations for a coach they just gave a long term contract to and let choose his own staff will be the same.
