i'm AD's biggest cheerleader on this forum, and that was some b*******. if he shows up out of shape this year, i'm shipping him in september.

(btw, i thought he was mostly in shape to start last year, just didn't seem interested in playing hard)

it's better than signing a contract and saying you're done, but it's disappointing if that's the way it goes.

again, my take is still that he had a couple freak injury seasons and should recover to be a top 5-10 player next year. but seeing him sort of chubbing up and not touching a basketball after the worst season of his career isn't giving me confidence.

i gave him a pass for 20-21 because of the non-existent offseason but then he entered this past season oddly bulked up and proceeded to get even worse at shooting before suffering one of his usual injuries

This team is burnt toast. Too many things have to go right for it to work. Lebron is too busy yapping about the afterlife. AD is over it.

One more year and it's over. Lakers can likely start over.

again, a lot can happen between now and october. i just keep hoping for signs of life from any corner, and i don't encounter them.

it may be silly to get ruffled by AD not being kobe in the gym right now, but it's the dead zone...

His comments were honestly pathetic. It’s one thing to take a break, enjoy your vacation, whatever. To not touch a basketball, to not shoot and keep your muscle memory sharp when this is your JOB that you make HUNDREDS of millions of dollars to do, there’s no excuse. I don’t care if this is his consistent routine, clearly something is wrong with that as the last 2 seasons his shooting had nosedived. You don’t just stay the same as you age, you can’t just pick up the ball and be that same superstar, it takes EXTRA work to maintain. I honestly couldn’t be more annoyed right now, his drive is weak as hell. I said this when this season was ending I’d trade him and LeBron and get every single draft pick and decent young player we could and start the rebuild, and I stand by it. We aren’t winning a thing with a guy who is supposed to be taking over for LeBron and seizing that role, but instead has that attitude, “meh, I’ll work on it later”. Sad.

Damn. It's not surprising, we talked plenty about his drive in this forum before. I agree with everything said here.

It really baffles me how you have one of the greatest jobs in the world and you are ok not touching a basket for weeks.

Well, all eyes on him when the season starts, gotta prove us wrong

Wow, I am so dissapointed in you guys. It's easy to be an armchair warrior and criticize our superstar. I, on the other hand, support his decision to rest. He's just protecting himself here. If he was practicing his three-point shot, for example, those bricks would bounce very hard off the rim and could be potentially very dangerous. I think it's great he's taking it easy. Bad things can happen in the gym... like this:

I've said it before. We got a ring out of this little Lebron/AD experiment/era. But I think a lot of us will look back at it and wonder, was one ring worth this much bull s***? Was it worth a team that is this unlikable?

I feel like I knew all of this was coming, warned about it, poo-pooed about it, and ultimately then accepted our fate. Now that it is coming to pass, I'm not happy nor feel justified. Just ready for it all to go away so I can look forward to watching my team again.
