I mean I was over exaggerating a bit. But he is known for over correcting right? We didn’t have a great bench in the bubble so he goes out and focuses on the bench and breaks up our important chemistry. We then have little to no shooting and lacked some star power when Lebron and AD were out. So he signs a bunch of shooters who can’t play D and trades the rest of our assets for Westbrook.

This season past we were old and lacked accountability. So he signs a coach who preaches accountability and I’m just saying it wouldn’t shock me if he signs a ton of young players and gets rid of any vets. The guy tinkers and over corrects, it just is what it is.

i know i'm in the minority, but i still really liked the offseason after the title. minor retooling, imo, and on paper, it looked great. then AD missed half the season, and then AD went down again when we were about to bury phx and likely cruise to the finals. the only issue i had was promising schroder a starting spot and then not trading him when he didn't sign the extension. from that point on, we've engaged in some silliness, starting with the drummond nonsense. hopefully, he'll overcorrect in that regard (stop promising roles that are for the coach to decide).

Abeer already shared some of my points. That offseason was GREAT. We got 2 nominees for 6th man and one of the best centers to play with AD. They were great moves imo. And if AD was healthy we had a great shot to win the title.
The mistakes were, as abeer said, the role promising to Schroder and Drumm.
As for the last season, I think that was all LeBron. It's the same M.O. we have seen in the Cavs when he was there. Rob has fault as well, he's the GM but I don't think it was his idea. He wanted Hield, which actually made sense (though not sure it would have been that good of a move).

I’m big on putting together a good staff so Rasheed definitely sounds underwhelming.

But Cranjis notes that it’s probably a smaller player development role. I might be more worried if we hadn’t retained Handy and if AD was a lesser caliber player. As long as we find a good offensive guy I can let this go.

Darvin said he doesn't want offensive and defensive guys, he will established a all-around type of staff

I liked that off seasons moves too. I don’t know how many Gasol discussions I was apart of. I did like signing Trez and Schroeder. Regardless of whether it’s good or bad moves, you can’t say he doesn’t over correct.

You are a high quality poster and we agree most of the time. I want to give Lebron every chance to succeed while developing our future. I have been a high school and youth league coach for so long I have a strong tendency to favor youth. End game though I just want to see good basketball and win championships. Typical spoiled Laker fan...lol

    Yeah, the hire sucked, lol.

It's cool. If he gets let's go, we'll have the crowd that supports it now say, " I never wanted him, he's trash, etc..".

    Fits in here.

wait, are we still harping about sheed when a) it hasn't been announced and b) neither have most of the other assistants?

it's not like jared dudley had any coaching credentials.

I'd rather have Dudley than Sheed.

Although, I would be disappointed if Dudley was the first hire, too.

    Shrugs.

yeah, i guess i have a lot of questions about how important the 4th/5th assistants are in the grand scheme of things.

Stating opinions as though they are fact and putting words in people's mouths also fits in. I don't think I've seen a single poster praise a potential Sheed higher. The general response from those not complaining seems to be that they're fine with it for a low level assistant. Not a ringing endorsement, but not worth crying over.

    Absolutely, I do.

Especially for a first time head coach who's going to delegate a lot of responsibility to these assistants.

FYI: I don't think he's here to develop AD. I think he's here more as a conduit for Russ to have somebody to lean on and communicate with...

    Oh, it fits it in.

    It's cool.

    Hire still sucks.

Do better, Lakers, and I'll quit complaining.

I put the first hire part on Penny Hardaway (inadvertently) and Shams (purposely) by leaking all of this early. As I believe was mentioned, the sequence seemed to be that Penny mentioned it, Shams jumped all over it, and then backtracked a bit.

I imagine the plan was to roll out the hirings together for the most part with Sheed just being one of a group of guys. The info leaked and with no one else to focus on, Lakers twitter jumped on it.

This isn't a knock on any of the folks involved. Just kind of how these things go. And I like Cranjis along with several others, so I appreciate the breakdown as I knew nothing of Sheed's career.

Overall though, I think guys are kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop to really evaluate the staff overall. Especially in this case as Sheed won't be making some huge salary and is easy to cut if there are any issues.

    Loud sigh.

Blame it all on prior decision makers and go after him. Lol.

I am optimistic that Ham will be able to help us convince guys to sign here.

    Yeah, I understand.

I'll wait to see how the rest of the staff shakes out.

I kid you not, though; if the rest of the staff is as underwhelming as the first hire (besides Handy), I'll be very critical.
