Please answer the question instead of deflecting.
We all realize the entire team was bad. This specific line of questioning is about Westbrick.

He’s not coming back, this is all for show to keep his value holding right at that line of neither negative nor positive. Right on that line of absolutely nothing but an expiring contract.

    Yep.

    It's whatever.

    This is Rob Pelinka's future.

If he keeps Russ and this backfires (don't make the playoffs or early first round exit), I think he's gone.

But if he wants to wager on Russ sacrificing, I won't be shedding any tears when Jeanie fires him.

And yes, I think she will.

Man, I wasn't supposed to post in here again.

    LOL.

I think Westbrook is the hill Rob makes his stand on. Which is unfortunate because it wasn’t his idea, but you can’t give up good assets to get out of a bad situation - especially one that will be resolved this season one way or another.

I’d say we are on 60/40 that he stays right now.

Darvin, from Dave McMenamin's piece at ESPN:
    >"Russ and I had some really, really great one-on-one convos, man, and the biggest word I think that came out of that, those discussions, was 'sacrifice,'" Ham said. "I'm going to expect him to be the same tenacious, high-energy player that he's been all his entire career. A lot of that now may have him without the ball in his hand. Most of it now may have it on the defensive end. But, again, we have to sacrifice. There's no achieving anything without all parties sharing the load, sacrificing instead of one-on-one."<

Analysis: We're effed. (Unless someone else will take Russ, which feels like doing differential equations in my head.)

In other words, I can't see anyone else taking Russ. We are so screwed.

Imagine: "Most of it now may have it on the defensive end." (Mother of...)

as a psychologist, one of the things i struggle with as i age is how self-awareness is so elusive for so many people. russ is just clueless as to who he is or how he comes off. and he'd bristle hard at that characterization, but that's...the issue.

Yes based on Russell’s body language and facial expressions, I can’t imagine how anyone thinks he’s going to buy in and sacrifice. Of course that was part of the whole problem last year too…..not Vogel or the other coaches not taking to him about expectations. :ADGlance:

I hope I'm wrong (and that I eat crow). But I don't see Westbrook changing just because we have a new coach. Again, it wasn't Vogel's fault that Westbrook was blowing layups, bricking jumpshots, turning the ball over, and not playing defense.

I’d do a trade scenario in the machine but I can’t find a bag of chips on any teams lineup.

honestly, it's hard. almost every scenario ends with me guessing the team that gets russ buys him out and just wanted out from under some deals. or they want to acquire him as a trade deadline asset. so few teams could actually use the russ we had last year. like maybe...two or three? max.

Westbrook probably thinks that it was all vogs fault in why they failed. Westbrook still is a detriment to the offense. He doesn't space the court, he isn't an off the ball player and Lebron is better with the ball in his hands. He should accept the role of a 6th man, the Lakers were pathetic last year, it should be a wake up call, a humbling experience that changes need to be made, not just removing/changing the coaching staff and role players isn't going to solve all the issues. Either accept a lesser role or gtfo, because you sure haven't proven to expand your game.
