He won’t, but it’s looking more and more like we won’t have to do the Wall deal to trade his sorry butt.

This trade is the worst trade in Laker history. 44M of team spirit crushing pile of garbage which the team might not recover from while LeBron is here :Vogelheaving: Yay LeBron you played yourself.

He always transfer blame to others. It's remarkable. It's impossible to work with someone like that. I can't understand how this is not assessed before signing pro people. There's no personality assessment whatsoever?

His exit interview was 20 minutes of blame shifting and no accountability whatsoever. He’s convinced himself that he’s never the problem. He has to go. It’s the 2nd year in a row Rob has bungled the point guard position in the offseason.

as an expert in personality assessment, i can say that a) it's tough to formally do this in a brief observation/encounter (which is why doing it for draft picks is tough), but b) in a case like this, you've had years of outside observation that could have helped you. there's whatever westbrook told lebron and AD, and there's...your eyes and ears over a 15 year period. should have leaned more on the latter.

There was just an article last month about Russ not being receptive to coaches’ attempts to communicate the role they expected of him.

I find it extremely unlikely that Vogel never communicated what he expected of Russ. If he didn’t insist as much in his interview, I’m confident in assuming he was practicing grace and taking the high road, validating that the injuries and lineup changes were indeed difficult for all players.

False narratives running rampant about how this guy can't win, It's his game, his personality, his fit, blah, blah, blah. The fact is that prior to coming to the Lakers, A Westbrook team reached the playoffs in 11 out the previous 12 seasons. That's a fact, the Los Angeles Laker's have had 1 good season out the last 10, that's another fact. Made the playoffs twice.

" My God we gave up our Championship core for Westbrook!" Yeah well do you remember what that "Championship Core" did in the playoffs against Phoenix? Let me refresh your memories. Caruso 37% FG 29% 3PT 5.8 pts 1.3 rebs .5 assists .2 steals, Kief 22% FG 25% 3PT 2.3 pts 1 reb .8 assists 0 steals, KUZ 29% FG 17% 3PT 6.3 pts 3.8 rebs 1.2 assists .3 steals, KCP 38% FG 21% 3PT 6.2 pts 2.8 rebs 1 assist 1 steal. Going into a playoff series with our two best players hobbled by injuries , you would have expected our "Championship Core" to step up against a team that had two players with playoff experience. Yeah well they sure stepped up and showed out didn't they? LOL..and some of you guys were actually upset that we traded Kcp and Kuz and didn't take a 35 million dollar cap hit for Caruso?

AD put it the best IMO..https://www.sportskeeda.com/basketb...nges-russell-westbrook-faced-la-lakers-season

" We didn't have a lot of time because either I was out or Bron was out, and so a lot of blame isn't directed toward Russ, but he got a lot of the blame from the media and fans".

The dude has his faults, I've pointed out my issues with him, but this Westbrook is the root cause of most of our problems is some utter nonsense. Trade him, if it makes the team better, but to hell with just taking some crap back in order to get rid of him.

Eye test, advanced synergy stats, adjusted +/-, regular efficiency stats all show that he was a bad player but somehow Russ and his supporters still think he isn't a root cause of the problems. Amazing.

Sure you are done, because their numbers flat out sucked ,and that goes against your narrative that we were somehow "a better team" with those players. It what it is, that's what actually happened. The goal is to win in the playoffs, you aint winning what those numbers from your "Championship Core". They got outplayed at their respective positions by a bunch of guys that had never been to the playoffs at all.

it's not a narrative. it's a better record, better offensive and defensive rating, etc. real stuff.

the goal is to win games, and we won a bunch more despite equally serious injury issues or worse last year.

you're just lucky russ didn't get a chance to show you his value against phx in a playoff series. and he didn't because he was so bad all year it couldn't happen.

Nope. Two totally different situations. Last season the bulk of the team that won a Championship returned. We also played a lot more games to start the season with that team intact. Lebron played in 41 out of the first 42 games. Not one of these guys missed an entire season either. This year's team started out with almost an entirely new roster, and the main two guys were missing games right out of the gate, and the key MLE acquisition didn't play one single game all season. Not to mention Tucker missing games due to the thumb. These situations are not the same no matter how you try and spin it. Frankly when you factor in the fact that we added Dennis, Trez and your "Best Laker Center since Shaq" in Gasol, finishing in the play in game was not some kind of "Success". Those ratings didn't mean a damn thing once we got into the playoffs did they? Where was that vaunted defense against Phoenix? Hell..we had a top rated defense without Lebron or AD!! It disappeared in the Phoenix series, with Lebron and AD. Maybe it was their fault.

if finishing in the play-in game isn't success, then what is finishing 5 games out of the play-in game?

we led the phx series and were going to win it until AD went down. but go on.

this year's team was abysmal. and russ was a HUGE part of it.

Somehow I missed that this years team actually made the play offs, hell we didn’t even make the play in. Team that makes playoffs is better than team that doesn’t. PERIOD.

Edit: Before anyone says the goal is to win the championship, you actually have to MAKE the playoffs to get that opportunity.

They argue over advanced stats, Twitter "experts", last year's teammates, Xs and Os they think they know...it's just all comical at this point.

When this is officially moved to the NBA Forum, I'm going to bump the thread and tag the two stans every now and then to see if they're keeping up with WB wherever he lands.

    Just because...

Yeah I couldn't care less about that "Stan" nonsense. Kareem was the only player that I was ever a "Stan" for. This is the Westbrook thread isn't it? I thought the conversation was supposed to be about him. Agree or disagree.. I don't feel the need to go along with the crowd, just because that's what they think. Feel free to have your own opinions and I'll have mine, if they don't align whoppee damn do. It's all about James and Davis IMO, this other stuff is a side show, they missed time last season and we sucked with a "superior team", missed time this season and we sucked with an "inferior team". Sucking is sucking, hopefully they wont miss time next season and we can talk about how it was due to better coaching, better roster etc. Role players and Coaches ,come and go, but the superstars get you the rings. At least Westbrook talk spurs some passion and debate, otherwise it would boring as hell around here.
