It's not like we get to pick and choose what we get for Russ. From what it sounds like, everyone wants him gone at all costs.
On this board I suppose, Russ can still hoop IMO. That 47 million dollar expiring contract is going to be a lot more attractive than some folks think by the off-season. A bunch of "immovable" contracts have gotten moved in the last few seasons. Specifically speaking about Charlotte, I wouldn't cry about it, but those guys represent 50 million plus on the books for a couple of seasons. Gordon has played in 44 and 45 games these last two campaigns That's a risk factor to consider at 32 million for the next two seasons. He's not available for no reason either.
he makes Lebron expendable rebuild around Talen, ship out Bron, AD, stock up on talent and turn this bad boy around.
Talen needs to work on his jump.shot all.summer too much sloppy driving to the basket looks like he's about to brake something takes some weird steps into the lane
On a positive side, he can actually make plays for others while driving. Just needs some semblance of the 3-pt shot now.
And I did see him shoot and swish an honest to god mid range actual "jump" shot falling back a little bit. It looked great, hard with those arms to block if he puts the same juking effort into creating space for those too like his drives and one legged old man fall backs.
He was alright, and he'll continue to develop. Expecting this kind of player to do well while playing together with Bron AND Russ is just wrong. As a primary ball handler/playmaker surrounded by younger "energy" guys & AD makes him look very different.
he's right, i think. if he wants the ball, his ceiling is stat stuffer on a bad team. he has to learn how to contribute without it. he's not there yet. but again, he doesn't suck.
He’s 21, this is going to be a process. BUT, he needs to be able to shoot, if he can get a reliable shot it changes the game, right now that’s mainly what’s holding him back, and the reason he needs the ball. I’m fine with him sticking around, but for the right trade, he can he had.
right the THT/nunn for grant or turner types would be something i'd do. i'd even consider talking with houston about a THT/wood swap (without the westbrook/wall piece). he's not untouchable, but he's also not radioactive. again, just like kuzma for me. outside of our team, he'll be worth his contract. it's a matter of whether the team changes or he changes teams.
He's good for sure. Just is in a path of his career that goes against LeBron and AD's one. I think he's more valuable to us as a trade asset right now than playing. If Charlotte want him as a sweetener in the Russ deal for Rozier/Hayward, would def do it. As long as no picks go as well. He would be a great fit there, they are building an athletic team all around and he would have his space at the 2 position. They may target the '23 agency for a center, with Miles Bridges and LaMelo. They would have money to go after Vuc or Turner and would build a very interesting team Just trying to find a rationale for that Hornets deal
i agree. it could help sweeten it a bit. though if they paid attention, they'd know russ plus THT is a problem. but maybe their plan would be to just cut russ?
That's the part I struggle with. Their team is good enough to tank, they are at least top12. Maybe they want LaMelo to have a year with a hall of famer. Though I wouldn't want my superstar near Westbrook. Maybe they take to hear to frame THT to their needs and burn Russ. But that's a lot of money to burn on a small market. And they will already have to pay Miles. The good thing is that they need a move. It's just if we are able to sell it. That's on Pelinka I would go to them like: Look, we want you ahead of the pack. We know you need to make a move and 2023 is a good year for centers. You've been struggling last seasons and this team doesn't work. Russ will have market throughout the year, it's a huge expiring. But we believe there's a deal that can work for both of us. We throw THT in the mix for Rozier, Hayward and you have a potential big 3 in guard, forward and center position next year. Where do you get a better deal?
Nobody is preventing either team from moving pieces they receive, so you never know how many times somebody will be on the move. Maybe Russ needs to be traded times in 3 years to clue into the fact that he's the issue, and he's more valuable as an expiring contract than as a player. Ouch.
