if it doesn't include rozier, i probably don't want it.

if it's hayward/oubre, i want the pick coming my way, as i'm adding salary for a guy that is hurt quite often when i could just sit back and wait or cut russ.

rozier can actually produce in an area of need for us. he's a little overpaid, but i'd live with it.

rozier/oubre don't make enough to make the trade work, i don't think, so that combo is out.

something like jsm said works, even without achiuwa (move birch to us instead) and might satisfy all three teams.

anyway, more stuff like this, plz.

Pretty much the only way to save next season.

I’m sure Hayward is a must on the trade, Charlotte wants off that contract… if Oubre is involved I want a pick too. He’s the kind of wing we needed this season but he’s also streaky as hell. Rozier is a no brainer and sounds too good to be true.

Can we do Russ/THT for all 3? I’d do that

Once a Laker, always a Laker. This can be his equivalent of the solid West did for us when he was with the Grizz and gave us Pau (obviously that was a better and more significant trade).

hayward is just as injury prone as AD

but if it means dumping russ and getting rozier in return, i guess i'm fine with it

The “substantially” worse part is where I feel people here are too caught up on. It just feels strange to me that there is a debate on whether a first round exit - where we had to bust our a** to make the play in and missing out on the play in is that much different.

Regardless, both teams weren’t very good when missing our stars for 50% of the games. And that’s the most critical point of the lot, if we can’t fix that, we’ll be in the same position year in year out.

Westbrook had a bad season for sure. But I still maintain that we never figured out how to utilise him with Lebron and AD. I just believe there is a scenario where we figured out how to get 100% out of AD, and 85% out of Russ and Lebron. Instead we figured out how to get 100% out of Lebron offensively (and not much on D), while we only got 70% out of AD (and everyone turned on him) and like 30% out of Russ who became the scapegoat.

    Just disappointing all around.

I’d do a Hayward and Oubre for Westbrook. Same as a Rozier and Hayward for Russ and THT.

The Wall for Westbrook trade is asinine. Westbrook can still contribute if utilised correctly, Wall is just a bench warmer these days. You need talent to win and you’d be trading away some for none without any way of bringing in anything apart from vet mins. No thanks!

I'd never include picks on a Wall deal, but if management is interested in a 1 for 1, that shows you how valuable they feel Westbrook is. Addition by subtraction..

    I'm definitely against this one.

    Nope!

In addition, I don't want to cave to Klutch. I think this is the only trade for Houston for Wall. If we don't give them Russ, I think he gets bought out and we can get him for pennies on the dollar if we want him for the tax payers mid level (I'd rather not) or the min (sure... why not)

Disagree. Westbrook can't play. But we don't have the optics to do that. But we have with Wall. Then, if he plays it's a bonus. But you're trading mostly to be able to make a team that can win. Which you can't with Russ on the court. But we have to save the picks

I shared my view on a Hornets deal in another thread

Yes to any deal with CHA.
Getting Wall back doesn’t help us at all and Waiving and Stretching Russ just makes zero sense. I understand it would be to keep Monk, but it really hinders you for another three seasons.

No to Gordan Hayward who has played in 55% of all games in the past 5 years. Wake up!

I’d prefer two years of Hayward with his injuries to stretching Russ or John Wall.

We have very few options for Russ and there will be issues with any deal we make honestly.

That said, Rozier, Oubre, + whoever we need to make the numbers work would be great.

    Keep pumping those stats Russ

i'm (weirdly, i guess) not an oubre fan. he's got talent but a bad case of teh dumb. also, rozier/oubre basically can't happen because russ makes so much money. lol.

rozier/hayward has legs to me. rozier is overpaid and has 4 full years, but he's productive, and we could use that. and as someone said, hayward's a big expiring the following year no matter what. it's the kind of deal that helps us dig out from russ. no picks outgoing, though. we mortgaged the future for AD and got a title. no need to double down. we need flexibility going forward.

Oh I’m a Jayhawk so I’m well aware of Oubre’s issues lol.

I liked @JSM proposal though and the thought of maybe being able to bring in 3 useful guys for Russ intrigues me.

I’d be pretty content with Rozier / Hayward though and this is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping would emerge for Westbrook.
