i think his ability to continue to say hopeful things is sort of amazing. he's a better person than i am. and he'll get another job quickly, despite the haters on the forum.

would love to see all the other master tacticians "adjust" to our roster this year.

Just even trying other lineups when what we were doing clearly wasn't working would have been acceptable.

BS..he's paid to coach the roster he was given and make it work or get fired or resign. That's the job he signed on for period, just like every other coach in the NBA.

Everybody deserves their share of the blame for this BS season. Lebron and AD for failing to show up for work for large parts (Lebron) or most of the season (AD).
I don't really give a damn about their roster suggestions, their a**** didn't show up on the court enough to make it work anyway.

The FO signed a bunch of little guys and then nominally signed, two old stiffs at 5, to surround the franchise power forward playing full-time center? Stupid a** idea.

Vogel has sucked with rotations and in game strategy all season. He routinely gets out coached down the stretch of damn near every game we play. If this is his idea of protesting the roster he was given. Well fine...he needs to take his a** somewhere else and pout.

agree with most, but i'm not sure he's in charge of clear out for lebron/melo/russ. and i'm not sure any other coach would do something else in the same situation. maybe if they extended his contract further, he'd feel more confident to go against the wishes of the vets.

i've joked about it, but i don't think he's actually sabotaging anything. i just don't think he thinks moving to a ball and player movement offense with our personnel makes sense. and i think he's right. we only have one austin reaves.

defensively, he has no options. our centers can't defend. nobody can really defend at the point of attack, and AD's been out half the year. lebron and russ haven't played helpside defense at all. you can't strategize around these things, and you can't bench those players.

    Update from Stein on Quinn

IF he's gettable, he's priority #1. Time to focus my energy on cheering for Utah to get obliterated in the playoffs... and with Gobert in the fold, that's very likely.

btw, for those wondering why ty lue annoys me, it's this crap:

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...y-lue-changed-clippers-narrative-one-comeback

i mean, if we just focus on the positives in a sea of basically equally balanced positives and negatives, then yes, mediocrity looks terrific!

another way to look at this is that lue's teams are routinely caught with their pants down. like...all the time.

as i've said, he's bitter. that's ok. i might have turned down our job in that situation, too. but don't act like he's proven the lakers were wrong to be skeptical of his demands. honestly, i hated thrusting kidd on our coach, too, but kidd's outperforming both this year.

story also skipped vogel's title. big shocker. i mean, the great ty lue himself said lebron only has 4 titles in 19 years, so it can't just be him, right?!

oh wait, they did talk about the clippers underacheiving. they excused it:

some more moves lue has in his bag that vogel doesn't:

imagine trying that s*** with russell westbrook!

wait...i'm told the offense needs to be more complicated! that's why vogel's terrible, right? anyway, kudos on going...8-10 over an 18-game stretch i guess.

and this part interests me. we'll see. but doc rivers has looked great with a bunch of try-hards and failed when he had the big guns. lue was frankly lucky to escape a one-man team in dallas last year when he had all his horses.

and say they do win next year--i mean...shouldn't they? they have two mega stars and an incredibly expensive supporting cast. does it take a wizard?

    just tired of the bias.

This is nothing compared to how bad it will be if we lose to them in the play in without George and Kawhi.

and i'll feel the same way then. i think vogel could have that clippers team in 8th or 9th, too. remember the clippers offensive rating is near league bottom. they're (sort of) winning with defense. because they have a team full of willing and able defenders around their stars. you know who can go .500 with that? frank vogel.

I honestly put Vogel and Lue on about the same tier of coaches. My issues with Lue not getting the job here had more to do with how we handled the coaching search as a whole.

Despite my criticisms, the main reason I felt like the team would have to move on was because it looked like the team (and honestly the whole org) was just quitting on him. If the guys can finish strong I would be okay with us giving him a shot at righting the ship unless Snyder becomes available.

Until I'm proven he had anything to do with the roster construction, as much as agreeing, I give him the benefit of the doubt

We lost an incredible amount of size that we ALL mentioned it all summer long, so they knew too. Sent away KCP and Caruso (and Wes) who were our best perimeter stoppers. Gave him 2 forwards with almost 80y old combined. Gave a bunch of guards who guard nothing. It's just too much

I just don't understand why we went from champions with two rim protectors + AD to small ball in two years.

I want to see two twin towers as our centers, AD and a stretch 4, 2 young athletic forwards, Lebron, a point guard and shooters

    LeBron - Ingles - Wall
Monk - Reaves - Gary Harris
    Caleb Martin - Stanley
AD - Covington - James Johnson
    Whiteside - Mcgee

This team is championship material with both stars healthy, without giving much thought to Westbrook and THT

it's funny because i may be frank's biggest supporter on here, but i think he has to go for everyone's sake, including his.

and i agree that he and lue are on the same tier. i'm willing to admit lue may actually be marginally better. but to hear the talk about each, you'd think one was phil jackson and the other coached division III ball in muskogee or something.

lue hasn't done anything special with the clippers yet. and honestly, anything short of a title/finals berth with their payroll and talent is kind of a fail.

    it's just tiresome.

    Lue is better.

This roster is the issue, though.

    And yes, go get Snyder.

    He's a good coach.

    We'll complain about Snyder, too.

Par for the course in Laker land.

i'm guessing we don't get snyder, anyway. isn't the word that he quietly signed a big extension in utah? i think they'd consider moving gobert before eating 20 million in coaching costs.

also, snyder has experience in both SA's and our organizations, and i'm guessing he's got a more positive impression of one of them...
