This is the stupidest s***. Can’t judge the season until AD and Nunn are back.

My biggest gripe with Vogel is he isn’t a great coach on offence. We’re almost through a whole season and we can’t put together any decent sets or sustained offensive production. He hasn’t figured out how to get Westbrook and Lebron to work together or the very least how to stagger their minutes enough that you still get 24 minutes of each guy dominating the ball.

We run no sets to open up our shooters to actually get them better quality shots and our end of shot clock, quarter, game sets usually involving someone isolating from behind the line and launching long range threes.

His game plan is just straight Lebron iso ball.

vogel is not an offensive coach. he's a defensive minded coach who has success when he has players who fit his system (like he did in 19-20 and 20-21)

this season he was given a bunch of small, old 3 pt shooters to work with and surprise, they suck. his decision making is very questionable at times but he doesn't deserve much of the blame. that's all on russ for sucking so bad, lebron for wanting him, and the FO for blowing up a title contender to make that happen. pop could coach this team and they'd still suck. that's how badly the roster is constructed

Let me rephrase for them what this means: Vogel has shown he can have playoff success. With Handy that's a question mark. There's a chance for this mom and pop shop to clear a few extra dollars for play in revenue and we can't risk that.

2021 sucked. We finished in the play in game and out in the first round. I don't know what kind of "success" that was supposed to be at all. Whoope doo about defensive ratings..the top 2 defensive teams in the NBA last season, both went out in the first round. If James and Davis being hurt, derailed last season, it damn sure derailed this one too. That squad wasn't no title contender without the big 2, no more than this one.

I’m very interested to see how this thing plays out. The FO has been such a confusing mess this past summer and this season. We are getting so many conflicting reports about what they were trying to do. It’s just bizarre and they and ownership are clearly at fault. Who thought it was a great idea to change the entire roster? Whose idea was it to only give Vogel a one year extension making him a lame duck HC? And then to saddle him with Westbrook who is uncoachable and take away all his defensive players and replace them with only shooters? How did they actually think this would work? And then the odd reports about Rambis wanting to go with big lineups and then putting Vogel on watch?

I just have no clue as to what they are trying to do for the future. Who are they expecting to coach this mess? Is Phil coming back or something? Who else can fix this?

I’m not enamored with Vogel but he’s shown some poise in this horrendous year. Honestly I’d give him another shot if we can get Westbrook out of here and add some guys he can work with.

This all makes for interesting reads but reality is as long as we have Lebron who the coach or GM is doesn't really matter. We will continue to play Lebron iso ball and he will have to approve everything we do. Lebron can still do great things at times but he can no longer carry teams to championships. You could have all the best offensive minds in one room but he isn't going to run those plays or play more than token defense. It is possible Lebron could still take over a playoff series but only if he is convinced we have a good shot at winning it. Otherwise he will not put out the effort. Holding Frank accountable for this season is like blaming one of us. Just for the optics though it is likely he will be fired.

yeah, i've got questions about whether it's vogel or lebron calling for lebron iso ball, too.

anyway, yes, vogel will be fired immediately when the season ends, but if he hasn't been fired yet, i don't see the sense in doing it now. they've had plenty of good opportunities to let him go after just atrocious games and haven't.

Maybe it’s because the Rambii haven’t decided who the replacement will be?

I want him gone. What the f*** was that? I know we were short handed, but not to the degree of playing Russ, THT, Monk, Reaves, and Melo, good god. We have a 6-9 guy over there in Gabriel, we have Dwight Howard, come on. He cost us this game, or at least a shot at it.

Would definitely liked to have gotten a look at Gabriel. But Dwight got minutes and tonight looked old and slow with not much elevation. Some nights he looks better, granted.

Not at least giving Gabriel a look tonight is mind boggling. Maybe he thought it would cut into Avery Bradley’s minutes at the 4 and thought no way.

I don’t disagree, but he could have just stood still in the paint with his arms up and he’d have had a better shot at stopping Poeltl’s layup line than our pour guards and Melo could. It was beyond sad seeing THT, Monk, and Reaves have to try to box him out and help on him only to give up baskets and send him to the line.
