If Kobe was wrong on Russ, well, that's one of the few times.

But if the narrative is right - that LeBron and AD were the true GMs this past season, and LeBron got Russ, 'Melo and a bunch of old dudes who don't have rings and said something to the effect, "Sign with us and I'll get you a ring"...- man, talk about being effing WRONNNNNG!

So we got a championship with AD. Meanwhile, Caruso, KCP, Kuz, Ingram, Julius, Clarkson, Zubac...we would've lost one or two of those guys to FA or some lame trade, but just think if we'd grown with those guys. That was what was behind Door #1. We picked AD and Door #2, and I wonder how we'll think about mortgaging the future to "win now" will look...I was gonna say next year or in 3 years, but after just THIS WEEK of Laker games: how about NOW? How does it look NOW?

Man, you suffer when Kobe's achilles pops. Then you really suffer when you have nothing. You suffer when it's just LeBron and a bunch of 20 year olds. But that suffering was supposed to PAY OFF after years of playing together. Who knows if we could've had another dynasty. But we did win that one in the bubble year.

Could I be wrong about this line of counterfactual historical what-ifs? Of course. But it's worth thinking about. (I know: a lot of you had already thought a lot about it.)

they wouldn't have been able to afford to keep all those guys you mentioned

and who says they develop the way they have if they stay in LA? especially with lebron and the way he runs an offense. i take the title any day over playing the "what if?" game

    Exactly.

They are to buy him out or stretch and waive him. IMO.

If we're already hearing mentions of this, it's a serious possibility

Icewater Boy is another hallow stats player. He’s had one good season in which he significantly improved the winning percentage of his team. He’s cast as a lead guard, but his skills are much closer to a SG. He was no big loss and many of us Laker fans were ecstatic that we got back Lopez and a pick while dumping Mozgov.
Our FO should have retained Brook. His value was proven in Milwaukee by being a integral piece in their recent Championship.

That would be just shooting yourself in the foot, again, after it just healed, and this time using shotgun instead of a 9mm.

I don't blame Vogel for not benching him as a coach who's getting fired this summer. I'd want for Bron, AD, and Rob to have to endure this hell for the rest of this season and hoping it gives them nightmares. This move and the subsequent signings is largely why Vogel is getting the boot. The players and GM won't fire themselves or take responsibility for this.

As a Laker fan, I want to see Russ benched. But if I'm in Vogel’s shoes, I start him the rest of the year and grab a box of popcorn to watch this ship sink.

My point is what D'Angelo's value was at that time. What he turned out to be is irrelevant. He did make the all star game not that it elevates him much in my opinion but yeah clearly he was enough to get the Knicks to take on Mozgav and give us Lopez, all that matters
