I would have traded THT Nunn and Baze for Grant or Turner or Sabonis but that’s about it. Those deals aren’t on the table so I don’t want us doing something dumb with THT like trading him for an old retread just to make a move. I don’t see another obvious difference maker for this year and the future available right now.
yeah, i've looked around and don't see a match. feel like wood is sort of on the outs with houston, and swapping those two could make sense, but houston would ask for a 1st on top of it, i'm sure.
Tucker and a 1st round pick isn't all that low of a value, he's still young. Talen will probably play better after the trade deadline anyway, the prospect of getting traded can mess with a young guy's head.
I'd take Wood, he would fit well with AD offensively, he has the potential to develop more on defense, playing next to Davis too. 17 pts and 10 rebs at 26 years old on a 14 million dollar contract. Not a bad option, he's a better rebounder and 3 point shooter than Grant.
Well there is this...but who knows? https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...hristian-wood-tells-rockets-he-wants-to-stay/
yeah, i don't follow them that closely, but the fact that he's answering those questions means there's buzz, imo.
Ok I will bite. I’ve been opposed to trading Westbrook and our first round pick for Wall. But how about Russ, THT, Nunn, Baze and DJ plus our first for Wall and Woods? At this point I might do that. Woods could be a nice fit going forward with AD and we’d have his Bird’s rights. I have no idea if Wall can still play but it’s hard to imagine him being a worse fit than Russ if he can.
Actually now that I see those contracts up above what if we kept Nunn?! Let me revise then: how about Westbrook, THT, DJ, Baze and our first rounder for Wall and Wood? Not sure why Houston would do it but I would. Even if Wall sucks you’d have Nunn to possibly start next season.
if nunn doesn't have to be involved in a trade for salary purposes, we should keep him, imo. there's a chance he recovers fully from...whatever this is...and plays for 5 million next year.
Ok flame away. I’ve been in the no trading THT when his value is so low camp. And I’ve been saying no old retreads. But damn, I’ve been thinking on that Eric Gordon rumor. I know it’s not ideal but what if we did that trade with THT, Nunn and Baze or DJ. I know Gordon is 33 but he does potentially fit as our starting shooting guard. He’s a huge upgrade there over Bradley. He’s shooting almost 50% overall and 42% from three. He’s got familiarity with Russ in the backcourt. He’s a decent defender. He’s a much better fit than THT who can’t shoot outside and causes spacing issues. Nunn seems a bit like a hopeless case for this year anyway. Gordon Russ AD Lebron and whoever (maybe Monk) could be a really strong starting squad with a lot of depth behind them. Caveat, no first round pick included!
i'm out on gordon. out. will be mad. bandaid on a shotgun wound that might end up trapping bacteria instead of protecting it.
Lol I get that abeer3. That was my first reaction but thinking on it more has me a bit intrigued. THT isn’t helping us. Nunn I wouldn’t miss as he hasn’t played at all. No first though. Gordon is a solid two way role player who I think could actually fit on reflection. As I said feel free to flame me. It doesn’t sound great but I think it could work.
I get it, but that’s throwing away a kid who still has plenty of time to grow for a guy who might help us win a few more games this year only. If he were say, 29, I still wouldn’t like it because he’s a one trick pony.
Definitely true. I’m just seeing THT right now as a one trick pony (drive and finish reverse or regular with right hand only) and it’s not a trick that fits for us. Gordon can shoot. Maybe THT’s value is higher in the summer, but maybe not. I’m just not sure what happened with THT. His first few games back he played like a superstar and he showed some versatility and a three point shot. Since that time he’s been mostly awful with a few scattered good games across the whole season thus far. His shot has long since disappeared. His D has improved a bit but it’s not great. We speculated that he reinjured that thumb but there has been no report to corroborate that at all. Not sure why he had such a severe drop off.
what the f***ing f*** man why the HELL would we trade THT AND A PICK for f***ing Josh Richardson?! Horrible horrible horrible deal.
gordon fits great, actually. but he's 33 and gets paid 20 million per for the next two years. he also has a long injury history (again, where's the mr. glass AD crowd when we're talking about players on other teams?). more importantly, he won't be the difference in us contending during the time he's here, so why purge assets for him? if he were 29, i'd totally do it and he wouldn't be available for what we have to offer. or he's 21 and playing with high expectations in a role that doesn't suit him. i'd rather see if he can recover than punt at the lowest possible value.
