Russell Westbrick Discussion: Clipper Gonna Clip

Come on guys, you know basketball only really counts on the offensive end.

 

It's always good, bad, and the ugly with Russ. Bad gamble there, but not as bad as Trevor ignoring Morris on the previous 3.

Russ was MIA for 3 quarters, but if he doesn't dial it up in the 4th like he did, then we aren't a rimmed out basket away from winning.

He was a problem, but not the problem.

 

This really got to me, and he did a double take before shooting as well. Ariza had a ton of time to recover.

But yes, Russell’s help defence on that play was the wrong call. It’s a shame he didn’t protect mid, we probably win the game. But he was also responsible for our fourth quarter performance.

 

As I and many others said before , he's going to make a mistake which costs the game regardless of his performance in the first 47 minutes of the contest.

 

Russ is the human handicapping system.

 

whole point of westbrook was that when lebron was out, we could still beat the starless clippers. i mean, that was really it, right?

instead their group of midlevel salaried role players who have been there for two-plus years outplayed AD, russ, and the scraps we could pull together around them.

 

point is: had i told you in august, that in february we would have a game against the clippers wherein we didn't have lebron and they didn't have kawhi and PG, you'd have expected us to win, right?

Honestly I feel bad for Russ. This has to suck being from LA.

 

trade him now: dump a 1st rounder if you have to. This dude is an anchor on a team that wants to contend for a title.

At his very best, he always without fail makes dumb errors in crunch times. At his worst you get this nonsense: correctly benched for a 21 year old who was 0-5 from the field but is a tough defender.

 

Ignore any defensive shortcomings for a second. 1 make in 29 minutes. Benched for THT in OT. Makes waaay too much $ for that s*** to be OK.

 

just not suited to be a Laker. Bad fit everywhere but especially as a Laker. Tried to be positive with the trade but quickly lost all hope 1st few games he played in the pre season.
