DJ sure but i don't see why he wouldn't be ok with bringing back dwight considering he's one of the few defensive presences on the team

vogel's not a great coach by any means and his small-ball BS is stupid, but it's a damn shame that he's going to lose his job because of the FO (and lebron's) mess. he's the only good coach this franchise has had in this century who wasn't phil

He makes poor lineup changes and rotations. And he doesn't adjust the schemes to match the personnel either. He's not creative

At this point, what's keeping FV in the chair is the 1-5 stint Fizdale had when Frank was out. No one to plugin that chair that's gonna do any better. This is the same coach that sparked them to a championship 15 months ago. That season, with Kuzma, Morris, KCP & Caruso (guys who gave us 43.9 minutes of wing/forward defense) we plugged up that huge hole we have now in the wing-forward department. Hopefully, that also gets Rob and Kurt (and LBJ) to turn those fingers around and point them at themselves.

The right call IMO but I don’t get not playing our best line up against the Jazz.

Media is going to run with this quote for some time though.

I think Frank is toast. Yeah he didn’t put together the roster but things like playing Melo 30 minutes on a bad back while only playing Stanley 16 minutes isn’t helping his cause.

i mean, this is childish and sad. the vogel fire watch is something befitting of the sacramento kings, not the lakers.

so, in nearly back-to-back posts, we have people saying his smallball ideas are stupid, and then people saying he needs to be fired for...not playing enough smallball.

i don't think any coach is going to win here.

So nice that Vogel will be allowed on the plane. Will security check his credentials when boarding? This is such an absurd national watch.

This current mess is sucking any optimism I have left for this team from the top down. This is not the Lakers I know and love

We heard this before LeBron. Lakers fans need to really get a clue. Seriously. Like spoiled children.

It’s going to go badly if Rambis and Pelinka are in charge, but ultimately Rambis because he’s at the top. We’ve already forgotten, and yes I know it was Magic, that we let Randle walk for nothing, dumped D’Angelo Russell and Zubac for cap space, LeBron kinda saved this franchise for a few years. And on the coaching front the Luke thing was a disaster, as was the search after him and the Lue screw up offering him less years, forcing whoever took the job to have Jason Kidd on their staff because that’s who Kurt really wanted to hire, missing on Monty Williams as well, it was all a crazy mess. I honestly don’t even feel THAT bad for Frank getting out of it, because he still gets paid, and it’s pretty certain he’ll get another job pretty quick, he’s a solid coach.

Frank has contributed to this mess. He is the head coach and for me, this lack of an offensive strategy is getting old. We had the top ranked defense in the NBA without Lebron or AD last year, and still struggled to score against everybody, even with those guys. We seem to have two go to plays ...1. Give the ball to Lebron 2. Give the ball to AD. Davis isn't playing, so it's Lebron, Lebron, Lebron, or post up Melo.... No screens for shooters, backdoors, minimal pick and rolls. Part of Westbrook's game has always been pick and roll action with a big. Every big that played with him raved about his ability to get them easy looks. Since we don't have AD, now we look for Russ to morph into a mini Dame or Steph for some reason. It's a disjointed offensive scheme. WTH is Fiz on this staff for? He has been very unimpressive to me this season.
Defense...Levert goes off for 24 points in the 4th and we made zero adjustments? I mean damn...Defense is Vogel's calling card.

I'm not the biggest Vogel fan, however firing the coach means that we are losing. I hate losing just as much as everyone else. Frank needs to get it together here quickly or he's going to lose that locker room. Once that happens it's a wrap, might already be a wrap, we'll see. LeBron's lack of vocal support looms louder after every loss. He's been playing hard, so I can't fault his effort. His leadership here tho, is making me wonder if he still believes in Frank. God I wish AD was back!!

I'm pulling for Frank though, you win a chip for a franchise, I think you deserve the opportunity to go out on your shield. This Grammy road trip is going to be his make or break moment it looks like. We are going to be on National TV a lot, the spotlight is going to be white hot, every move he makes is going to be scrutinized. I hope it works out.

I don't know...the book is out on the best coach we could have stuff. Lebron and AD were both healthy and available for the championship run. I'm not sure Frank is the only coach, that could have won with those two playing at the level they were at that season. I do know that in two seasons, Frank has struggled to keep us above 500, without both of them being healthy too. It's a difficult situation to judge IMO. Last season we had the top ranked defense in the league, and struggled to score points. Yet we added two sixth man of the year caliber players who were known for providing scoring punch. We struggled to score when Lebron and AD played too. I gotta give him a pass on that season because James and Davis were hurt going into the playoffs. This season we added scorers, we gave up some on the defensive end, but we still can't score consistently. AD being out complicates the picture again, but a coach is supposed to play to the strengths of what he has available to him, and find ways to be competitive. That is just what a NBA coach is supposed to do. After a point, we can't keep falling back on " we don't have guys that fit his system ". Because when we had them, we still finished in the play in game. Perhaps the "system " needs to be adjusted. Find a medium between defensive and offensive strategy, that fits what you have available to you. He gets stuck on silly rotations for too long in stretches of games. Occasionally it works out, but more often than not, it bites us in the a**. That's on him, if he is out to prove some kind of point, then he's on his way out. Rob and Kurt aren't getting fired.

i can. play defense, stop taking terrible long threes.

our guys fit no system, currently. it's the russ factor. there's a reason nobody wants him at his pricetag. unless you're asking that we rejigger the whole thing around russ, which recent history tells us yields an even worse team than the one we're watching.

Russ has absolutely nothing to do with watching Levert go off for 24 points in the 4th, without an adjustment of any sort by Vogel. Russ doesn't make Frank sit two of his better defenders when they were needed either. If the coach thinks he's going to win some kind of power play against Rob and Kurt, he's about to get bounced. Blaming Westbrook for everything is not the answer. Frank has to make better decisions late in games. Lebron can't save him every night and AD is in street clothes. Frank has to tighten up man, NBA coaches aren't specialist, that's the assistant coach. The Pacers had lost 10 of the last 11 games. Their last win was on Nov 22nd against a Bulls team that barely fielded a squad. We got abused inside by the Pacers because James, Melo and Johnson were his idea of a 5? That's nonsense. It sounds like Rambis has told him to play the bigs more, he didn't, we lost. He keeps it up, he won't make it to seeing AD come to the rescue.

winning a chip doesnt make a coach a good one, Bud won last yr, most analyst out there dont see him as a good coach, he finally got the personel to win with Giannis transcending on his own
