The Lakers are that team that's going to pay him at least 25 million per. I wouldn't reasonably expect us to have beaten a title contender..I don't think Russ,Lebron and AD have played 5 straight games together yet. I know they only played 15 total together all season. Horrid pass after pass? Passing has been his strength, dude avg 8 assists a game, sharing the ball with Lebron who avg 6.5 assists. Lol this guy gets a lot of over the top flak thrown his way too.

Then we have to take back 47 million in salary and be stuck with it for more than 1 season. SMH lol..worse position than we started off in.

And after playing with Russ for a year and a half, Tatum gets so frustrated that he demands a trade!

LOL! Yeah, okay. The same team that already started looking to trade him away even before the half way mark of the season?

Believe that chatter if you want, I already explained why Russ won't get moved. I did it without mentioning anything about Lebron and AD too.

I’m believing what I’m witnessing on the court. He does not fit, and never will with LeBron or AD. If LeBron didn’t go off during this past run, we would be in a big hole. Never mind, there’s no point.

Not necessarily, we would ostensibly be given solid players in return. Like we're not going to gift another team cap flexibility for nothing. Well, at least I hope not lol.

For example, the Nets got D'Angelo Russell from us for taking on Mozgov's contract. I would assume Pelinka would ask for something heftier.

Westbrook is a mixed bag no doubt. And I think we all knew that very well already. Basically he played excellent ball for a while especially when Lebron was out. With AD out and Lebron in he’s not a great fit but no surprise there really. I’d like to see what we have when all three of these guys can play together in a month or so. 7 games together is obviously not a decent amount to judge.

But … if Portland wants to swap Lillard for Westbrook well count me in, lol.

Good thing you don't run the team.

It's hard to receive like value in return for a guy making that kind of money. Plus he is in control of the situation whether folks like it or not. The opt out on that kind of cash, will make most teams balk. Then also, we shouldn't be interested in getting trash contracts back in return, in order to just move him. He's comes off the books completely after next season. Russ at 25 million or so, is still a better option than anything on the free agents market this summer. We wouldn't have any cash to sign anyone of note as it is, even if we traded Russ. Now Kyrie for Russ makes you happier? Or Paul George? I don't think Dame is on the table period. Ben Simmons? Throw in Maxey too, maybe

    yes, this.

right. we're melo's third vet min stop, folks. this was my point about westbrook's next contract being a vet min if he opts in this year.

and i don't think he'll even age that gracefully, as melo can shoot the lights out, which is one of the last things to go.

I like the idea of waiting to see the big 3 together for a long stretch. Russ goes hard all the time, and Lebron and AD have already shown us that they can elevate their games in the playoffs. I'm still intrigued by this pairing. However there are a few slim possibilities on trades that might work.

You keep comparing bigs to point guards tho. Melo fell off in New York. He wasn't a top forward anymore, he couldn't finish against size. To his credit, he reinvented his game in Portland. Russ is 33 20/8/8 are not falling of anytime soon type of numbers IMO.

i'm not sure how current numbers indicate falling off. unless you're following trends, in which case i'd suggest you avoid westbrook's stats for the sake of your mental health. because all of his metrics are plummeting, and he's reaching the age of extinction for guards--especially those who rely on athleticism.

wade's a good comp for russ, and he fell off one cliff at this age and then the final cliff three years later.

again, vet mins or retirement are on the very visible horizon.

oddly, it was a reason i had hope for this trade. i thought his obvious impending decline would motivate him to play defense. it did not.

I'm not a big believer in advanced stats predicting anything, during the current season. We will find out how far he's fallen off by the playoffs.

Russ' athleticism is interesting. Although he had incredible speed and jumping ability, I feel like it's his constant motor that has given him all time athleticism. I'm not sure that fades as quickly as we anticipate. To my eye he doesn't look to be slowing in stamina, and he started at such a high level in that category that I think he has at least another 3-4 years of incredible stamina left relative to his peers.

Imagine if we could combine Nash's brain into Westbrook's desire and body.

Slick, I don’t think he’s fallen off enough physically to even worry about. Serious question …. how can Russ be carrot and “clubbed” (since carrot and “sticked” seems too sophisticated for this guy mentally) (looking at the stupid/lazy things he continues to do) ….. to put the fear of “something” into him to get the point and do something about his brain fart plays in games? Those will kill us. I’m annoyed enough to wish a blanket party on him. :D Never seen one but maybe that would get his attention. Seriously, what??

I’ve already said LeBron should take him aside privately and get in his face. And Vogel HAS to get through to him, privately, or in front of the team like in film sessions …. that these types of plays and TOs aren’t going to be tolerated.
