Rather him work on the C and Shoot 3's while incorporating some of what Melo and Bradley does. Melo has the nice pump fake to setup a fly by and an easy 3 vs Bradley who will use it go for his midrange. Watching these 3 and D guys, when you're 3 pter isn't working it's good for them to attack the basket and with Johnson size and athleticism you want him to put pressure on the defense at the rim if they close out too strong.
LeGM will not let Johnson get away, he doesn't want to guard Doncic, Kawaii, Butler of the world, he can focus more on the scoring record
It’s amazing what a larger athletic wing does for our D. Last week during the peak of our covid protocols we went from not being able to stop a few leaves in the breeze to now having a pretty good defensive roster. AD and Dwight can guard the bigs, SJ and Ariza can guard the large wings, AB, Reaves and THT can do the same for the guards.
He single handedly gave fans hope while some other glue guys made their way back. The team is completely different with a few guys back, and after the championship this season, we will look back at his signing as one of the turning points of the season.
I swear, if they f*** this up too. There's no "bigger picture" stuff that should influence whether Stan sticks. Finances? Roster spot? That's why Rondo is getting dumped. If he's referencing a potential later trade involving one of our tradeable assets for someone like Grant, we need to be adding more than one perimeter defender. So I don't think that should prevent us from correcting our off season blind spot.
I think what it means is; I want Stanley Johnson but Rob is exploring all avenues on the trade front and flexibility of an extra roster spot is always welcome in being creative in trades. I still think its a far higher than not chance we sign SJ. 65/35%
That's a dangerous game to play with tonight being his last game with us, unless someone goes back into covid protocol. Hey Baze, want to take one for the team? I was hoping we'd still have players in protocols and could get him on a 2nd 10 day to buy us some more time. There's still Bradley's contract for us to make a decision on. We're a couple weeks away from regular 10 day contracts and THT's trade window to open. Going to be a busy few weeks for us. If we play the wait and see game, Rob better be very clear with him on our plans and we can only hope that's good enough for him to not go elsewhere in the meantime. That hasn't always worked out for us: see Dwight to Philly. And we already know Chicago has some level of interest in him.
Couldn't we just sign him to a non guaranteed contract? That way if we cut him for a trade, there's no loss on our side with tax implications. Fingers crossed smarter people than me with the cap are in charge. I'd be furious if we let him walk for no reason.
Really put him in position to fail tonight. He tried against Reid, but that's not remotely fair. Liked the 3 steals, the activity forcing the jump ball and later the turnover he caused by pressuring Minny in the corner on the loose ball.
Spoiler Young man is partially responsible for turning around this season. We've got to keep him. Rob will find a way I'm sure.
yes, he reminded everyone what hustle was, and how to show effort on defense while not worrying about your own offense. He's basically the team MVP right now. well, that might be a little bit exaggerated, but I do think he's played an important role and I'd like to keep him for the season. Let this thing play out.
