yeah, i'm not nearly as worried as most here. he's a keeper going forward, imo. he just may be a sixth man type instead of a star. who cares? he's good. he's struggling, but we've seen what he can do. as for the THT/caruso thing, it's moot. we could have very easily kept both. it wasn't an either/or.
this is what i was alluding to a few days ago. in any case, i'll be furious if we move THT for someone like robert covington or somesuch. don't move useful young players for dudes on their last legs in pursuit of a title when you're in 8th place.
That would leave 3 ball handling players in Luka, Bron, and Westbrook. Not sure I see how that would work.
i think luka won't get out of dallas until after next year, when westbrook and lebron are off the books. but lebron and luka can play together, no problem.
kyle kuzma fallacy* engaged. *just because a young player doesn't meet unrealistic fan expectations does not mean he's bad or useless.
What troubles me is after a year and a half of earning meaningful “varsity” minutes …. he still looks basically the same with little if any perceptible expansion on his repertoire of skills. That is troubling in ADDITION to the fact that a guy with his handles and mass to get where he wants to go, anywhere in mid range has NO game there at all aside from one legged, no vertical, step back shot. No floater and can’t get a simple jump shot off because he “doesn’t/won’t learn how to” jump on them.
I thought he had another year left. Do you think we trade him? Wondering who we pull that off with. I'll wait a little longer to judge, but being under .500 is pretty telling that what we are doing isn't working.
He has a 47 million dollar player option he can exercise. If he opts-in, he'll be an expiring contract we can use in a trade. If he opts out, well, we then have that much money coming off the books, so that will increase our cap flexibility. Hopefully if it's the latter, we don't decide to resign him for like 20 million dollars and x amount of years.
He’d be pretty crazy to turn down 47 mil unless someone has already guaranteed more. Crazy numbers we’re talking about.
cp3 opted out n got new deal, its possible russ can get 1 last big contract just not the super max again
THT shooting is a concern. He's basically doing the same since he got here, drive to the hoop, or once a while step back 3.
I’m guessing it will be enticing for a team who wants to clear cap since it will be an expiring deal.
