Yup, he can be very good at times, like tonight.
Reality check: Detroit is one of the worst teams in the League and we are still only at .500
    Let’s see some consistency now.

Fantastic game from Russ tonight and actually quite clutch down the stretch. We need to see more of this Aggro Russ. I like it when he’s angry and punishing the opposition. That dunk on Diallo!

Unfortunately no. Because we KNOW he will have great games here and there.

Doesn't mean he is a good fit here. If he wants to be good, he needs to be good 60 nights out of 82. And he needs to be good while allowing others to be good as well. He has been great in about 3-4 games out of 18. That "20-25%" ratio won't cut it. And if his greatness also "takes away" from other players "greatness", then the net benefit isn't worth it.

Haven't posted much lately but I'm with Slick and svtzr. I love having Russ on this team. Talent over fit, all day any day. He's good already and will get better as the season progresses.

Which games were these that he took away from other players, and didn't allow them to be good specifically?

This was maybe my favorite play of the game, very Kobe to Pau like, the sort of thing you want to see from your PG

They need to do more pick and roll.

Especially if AD is actually going to make contact with the pick.

.500 team? should they have even been down 15 to det to begin with? he did alot of good but he also gives it back like the pass that got easily stolen when they were only up 3

Westbrook and AD were great last night in the 4th Q. More consistent superstar play like that and winning games will buy back some good faith from fans.

Good challenge vs Knicks tomorrow. Thibodeau is a defensive whiz.

Lakers need continuity like they did in 2020. Too many injuries and people getting suspended or not playing isn't going to help everyone getting on the same page. If they can get that after Lebron gets his lousy 1 or 2 game suspension, then the Lakers might get some momentum. This constant in and out of the players is whats killing them.

So is Vogel. And oddly enough both teams are some of the worst defensive teams in the league this season. I read somewhere that the Knicks starting unit has the worst defensive rating in history through 15 games.

    18. DET - Good

Through 18 games he has been:

    Good: 39%
    Average: 39%
    Bad: 22%

I agree he should be good roughly 70%+ of the time. Which means he can only be bad 10% of the time and average 20%. To end the season last year in Washington he had close to 20 good games out of 25. So there is still hope he can round into form.

Bigger question to me is can this coaching staff get the most out of Westbrook, Lebron and THT as ball handlers through better rotations m. I feel like AD and Melo are simple. Can we hide some of our poor defenders well enough to play shooters? Can we use our size and improve rebounding?

But why does it have to be one or the other. Why not talent + fit?

As mentioned above, continuity is key. We just need to give him more time.

what do the top three teams in the west, record-wise, have in common? really, every team ahead of us in the standings is basically returning 85% of their primary rotation. none are incorporating a notoriously difficult-to-incorporate piece.

    @TIME pretty much this...

I still think we are a better team with Russ + vet mins than the sum of Kuz, KCP and Caruso.
