It's just because the salary negotiations have gotten pretty contentious. I think he might honestly leave on principle because he doesn't want to play for the team that doesn't appreciate him.

The only way I even entertain this idea is if we somehow get rid of Young.

No to Wade. His numbers actually aren't bad but he is old and unhealthy.

This feels like Nash all over again to be honest. I'm not interested in doing that again.

For 10 mil or less in a sixth man role, I'd take him. But that's not gonna happen. Kobe and Wade together in the starting lineup would cause spacing issues since both are pretty inconsistent from long range.

When taking Agent 101 courses, it's common practice to makes sure you throw out legendary franchises as having interest to create buzz, clicks, interest, and drive up cost. Nothing to see here, and actually pretty silly to consider. No way are we paying Wade more than the Heat would even on their tightest day.

Ugh.... the FO would absolutely go after Wade just for the name alone.

I was hoping they'd target Aldridge if they had to go for a big name player, but Wade makes a lot more sense if only because he might really be interested in coming to LA. I don't want him per say, but honestly, it probably wouldn't be a terrible acquisition for next year. It would be nice to have another vet that can lead and make big shots so Kobe doesn't have all the pressure on him in his last season.

The problem is if we sign him for 3 years.... he'll be a shell of himself by then, and/or missing half of the season to injury.

We better get a rim protector like Biyombo and a perimeter defender because the defense will be awful.

what's "interest", exactly? because I'm sure the lakers wouldn't turn him down after striking out on others. and I'm sure if wade left Miami, he'd a) want big money and b) want to be in a big market.

each side using the other to up their own cache makes sense to me. wade's like "i'll go to the lakers, suckas. pay me. those are the lakers. they're your big brother, and you know it."

and the lakers are like "see: big stars want to be here. we know how it's done, and they know that."

neither side actually wants this to happen, though.

I get the feeling from Mitch that this kind of report wouldn't be smoke on the Lakers side. It jives perfectly with what Mitch has been saying about needing big name star players in LA.

As much as it pains me to say it, Wade is the biggest name star player of all those that have been mentioned.

Yeah if the reports on the contract negotiations with Wade and Miami are as bad as we've heard then... this one has some legs to it. Wade is the kind of guy that I think Kobe would respect. He's got championship pedigree. He's available this summer as an UFA.

In a twisted way, it's actually a really good fit. In another way, it seems like playing with fire (no pun intended from the Heat player) because he's on the wrong side of 30 and is a known injury risk. I have to think the Lakers wouldn't offer him a max contract, that's just irresponsible, but what kind of money are we talking here? He wants a raise from his 16.1 million dollar contract right now and he wants at least 3 guaranteed years...

The only way I see this going down is if the Lakers offer him marginally more than 16 million, a guaranteed 3rd year, and Wade REALLY wants to stick it to the Heat and Riley for not looking after him towards the end of his career.

I've been thinking about it all day and I'd be alright with it. I hate him and it would take me a while to get used to the idea of him on the roster, but all things considered he'd be a good addition. When he actually plays he's still effective. He's got some of the leadership we need. It's not the guy I want, but it makes a lot of sense objectively for the Lakers to get him if he's open to it.

Other than the steroids and the refereeing in that one finals against the Mavs, I don't really have anything against Wade.

That's kind of a lot though, right? :D

I guess I view him similar to Alex Rodriguez. I don't have anything against Rodriguez except dude is a roid user and he's still celebrated right now. My other problem with Wade is his long list of frustration fouls on Kobe. Remember the broken nose in the All-Star game?

No. Just no. He's injury prone and past his prime. We need to develop young talent.

Based on rumors and paternity tests, I doubt that.
