I have expected us to go 11-9 or worse in our first 20 games but have to admit that we are playing worse than I figured. At this point, I am beginning to lose my hope. Did not expect for us to be this bad at this point, for any reason.

By the way, I'm another old crooner like you, except I started watching in 1960, when Jerry West was a rookie.

Abeer3 are you really defending AD taking three shots for 2 points and grabbing one board through the first 23 minutes of the game? I don’t care how many people they through at AD, the fact is he was passing out instead of taking that one big guy to the cup many times before even the double came. He simply did not assert himself at all. He wasn’t even looking to. It seemed like even the slightest fight from that guy or Jones who gives up about 60 pounds and 5 inches to AD was enough to get him to get rid of the ball instead of punishing them in the post like he did to the Spurs. The effort wasn’t there at all last night for him on either end. But he should have destroyed the smaller Bulls. I thought it was fitting that he got tossed because he didn’t want to be there IMO. I am a pretty staunch defender of AD here but I hate it when he goes passive and this was one of those games. I know it was a back to back but it was inexcusable after his outburst the other day. You are the leader. Lead by example. WWKD?

didn't see after the first quarter, but i thought he was generally making the right plays on offense. he looked a little disengaged on defense and seemed like he was in a generally bad mood.

refusing to talk to the press after the game is also an unusual thing from AD.

i think if we don't shoot 6-32 from three, a lot about this game changes. also if lonzo and derozan didn't have HUGE axes to grind with us. i expected a loss and we got one.

Yeah but let's keep it all the way real here for a second..AD had 20 points on 6-9 shooting and he got tossed in the 3rd quarter over some complete BS. OK...I'll say it, you don't toss a guy of his caliber over some woofing, do you see the crap Draymond and KD get away with on a nightly basis? Come on now, Vogel should have been blasting the officials to make a point after that game over that foolishness. No AD or Lebron, forget about a come back, the game wasn't over, yeah we were down, but tossing AD ended the night early IMO. So yes he could have done a lil more, Vogel could have put him on the low block to start the game instead of the high post too. Teams make runs in the NBA, I didn't expect any kind of comeback after AD got the hook though.

Agree with that. He shouldn’t have been tossed for that. As Big Game said the people don’t pay to see the refs. It was BS. I just didn’t mind because AD sucked so badly that I was sick of watching him personally.

He continued to suck for the second quarter too until the last minute.

If 6-9 for 20 points sucks, the rest of our team is the worst in nba history.

I’m a vocal defender of AD and think he gets too much flack in general. He’s the key to us winning and our future right now.

I just wasn’t happy his performance last night. He was passive on both ends.

The 20 pts frustrates me because he put that up coasting IMO. Dialed in AD dominates that game.

I hate phrases like the other team wanted it more but the other team wanted it more.

He can’t be the ONLY one playing effective defense night in and night out. Players can only be slowed by great team defense.

You are correct but leading the defense doesn’t mean being the only one playing D.

i think the continual breakdowns by others can certainly erode your interest in holding up your end, though.

Donovan came in with a great scheme that AD and Vogel were not ready for and AD didn't bring the energy or effort on either end to try and change the game script. I kind of expected something like that from Pop (although he might not have the personnel), but not from Donovan.

AD had a good line and his J was solid. But it is frustrating seeing someone with his size and skill unable to get to the rim against 6-6 guys, especially coming off a SA game where he imposed his will. He couldn't put it on the floor either because those guards swarming him are all capable stealers.

How bout that first 23 minutes? 3 shots 2 points 2 boards. Great stuff. He did suck. Why are we arguing about one of the worst games I’ve seen from AD. The previous game he had 19 points in the first quarter so yeah he very much sucked by comparison. Again you turned the game off after one quarter so why are you acting like he played well. I’m not exaggerating. Even Stu was astonished at how passive he was. Are you really trying to bait me?

Also for the record I said he continued to suck for the rest of the second quarter up to the last minute. You didn’t even watch the second or the third so why are you acting like you know more than me about it. He came to life too little too late in the third quarter. I told you what his stats were before that. There’s no need to take the mocking tone. It’s condescending.

the previous times i've gone back and watched after folks here were venting their frustrations on AD, there was nothing to see there. eventually, you stop listening.

it's really weird to me how ready so many people are to pounce on davis when there's PLENTY of targets available. he wasn't guarding derozan or lonzo. he wasn't missing 26 of 32 three point attempts.

anyway, if your contention is that the second and third quarters looked entirely different from the standpoint of this single player, ok, i guess. what i saw was the opposition executing a good defensive game plan against a team employing AD and a bunch of non-shooters.

is his verdict that AD needs to plow into the defense more or that teams have some good ways to keep him out of the paint given our general lineups?

it probably doesn't look like it based on my posting activity, but i have limited time for podcasts (or even most of the games these days) because i have small children.

posting takes minimal time actually. i'll often just pop in between classes and spew a bunch of basketball nonsense in like, 4 minutes, hence all the typos all the time lol.
