Yeah. I grew up in North OC, and it was all Lakers then, and still is. I can't honestly say who would be #2. OC is all Lakers.

They changed the rules on the routine and time allowed between shots. He use to walk back to the half way line and take a few breaths and he isn’t allowed to do it anymore. It’s cratered his FT percentages for some reason.

Some of the paddle guys out there look like kids, BUT love the intensity. If he brings that in a meaningless drill, practice is going to be intense.

I have no problem with Melo starting now that he's leaned himself out. Slot him in at the three.

    AD / LeBron / Melo / Ellington / Russ

    Lots of offense there.

Then bring in the get after it squad:

    Dwight / Ariza-Bazemore / THT / Monk / Nunn

You want to beat AD up all season against starting centers? Or is this for the teams in the playoffs we can do it against?

I keep hearing this "beat up AD" thing. Which center in the league today is exactly going to beat up AD? You realize AD averages 28ppg at the 5 and only 22ppg at the 4. The man is a center. He sold Russ on coming by telling him he would play the 5. Time to stop messing around and play the spot that he is best at. He's a very good PF, but he is a great center.

I just look at how tenuous it seems to keep him on the floor as it is without having to bang in the paint against guys bigger and stronger than him. He's not a 7 footer in any event like so many call him, he's 6"10" and 254. Not that height is the factor for banging. We'll see. Personally I would not be surprised to see Howard start now, if Gasol is gone, and then sub rotate from there when AD should be in .... during the season. Dwight seems to be really getting after it this off season for a purpose?

But, you didn't answer my question. Who in the league do you expect to beat up AD? :Javaleidontknow2:

It's generally a more physical position where the biggest and strongest guys play and again some of us just worry that "starting" all season long, as opposed to prescribed minutes during the games for matchups and closing lineup .... is asking for trouble.

We could start our biggest guy available, then as soon as possible slide AD to the 5. That's possible too. IMO, he should play a lot at the 5, just not bang with Embiid, Jokic or Adams. It's not like Ayton or BAM are very big. Wiseman is taller, but lighter than Davis.

The only name on that very short list that's an issue is Embiid. Jokic is not a banger. He spends most of his time in the high post. AD is more of a problem for Jokic than Jokic is for AD. Adams is not a scoring threat. That's pretty much it. So, for the sake of one guy (Embiid) we are going to keep AD out of the spot he excels at? (not saying that's your perspective karacha). So, I'm fine with starting Dwight or DJ when we play the Sixers. That's two games out of 82.

Adams isn't a scoring threat but he stays down low and gobbles up boards. I don't want AD'S fragile azz anywhere near him either lol. For the most part he can play the 5, there's only a few guys I don't want to see him bang with unless we're in the playoffs because there's no need

Basically, my stance is that he should be playing the 5 whenever he's not up against someone who can break him like a twig, but there are very few of those guys around. If there was any time in the history of the league for someone like AD to play the 5, it's now. He's about 6-10, 255-260, with a 7-6 wingspan. I mean... that's a center for sure. He plays like a center too, it's not like he is this floor stretching wing who shoots 40% from 3.

It all depends on the matchups with AD. His numbers are higher at 5 because he is playing against other small ball 5's. He is the best small ball 5 in the game . It's not so simple as just put him at center, some teams aren't looking to go small all the time. At the moment there aren't a lot of power centers in the NBA. Maybe that will change as more higher quality bigs come into the league. In the West, Denver, Utah and the Clippers have the ability to put size on the floor in the post, Ayton is a legit low post center too, we have to be able to counter that.

Seems to me if M. Gasol and Kidd can become decent to good 3pt shooters later in their careers AD should be able to too. It’s not like he does’t have a good looking release. Quit slacking in that area kid …. step your game up.
