Glad we locked him up for a few years. We needed stability in our HC after years of awful ones and tons of turnover. Congrats!

I just pray he doesn't implode and let go. Would hate to see another long term contract be eaten. But he is a good defensive coach and that alone will be enough to want this guy here, even if we end out rebuilding. I think Lebron is here for another two years, at the least.

He's never had any history of being unstable, quite the opposite. 3 years is perfect too, will allow both sides to reevaluate sooner and see how they want to move forward.

he's got the contract to carry us through the current era. seems like we've committed to two years with this rough philosophy (big 3 + largely mercenaries). makes sense.

i don't think vogel's some sort of coaching genius, but he didn't screw up having AD and lebron, and that's more than can be said for others who have opportunities, imo.

seems like a company man, too, which i think the lakers value. he didn't make a peep about being (obviously) forced to play drummond and start schroder. i think some coaches (e.g., svg) would have found a way to grouse about this in the press, even if only through back channels. vogel just stiff upper-lipped it.

With a little stability he won't have to cater so much and can play people in positions that best help the team.

Guessing if this ends up happening, we’ll need to bring in one more assistant?

Good luck! Maybe to bolster your chances, you should offer to leverage all the great insight from LB. You would be there on the bench, but you can crowd source all your coaching tips from our GameTime chat :D

Read he'll still have a role on Vogel's staff. Not sure how much time or what capacity though.

Some lineup options we can run to finally get Bron rest without losing/squandering the lead.

when perhaps the greatest player of all time sits, his team is indeed, worse.

i actually think this is part of what devalues AD lately.

    Nice article.

I like some lineups, but I believe we will pair heavily Russ and AD when LeBron sits. They were meant to be together.
LeBron can play with anyone so it's what makes the most sense. AD and LeBron already have chemistry so don't need many minutes during reg season. The remaining minutes will be to have the 3 together so that they bond as it will be important later in the season. So LeBron and Westbrook without AD is not to be much expected I would guess.

AD needs someone that can create and draw defenders away from him giving him favorable 1-1 matchups. Russ can bring this to the table and more when Bron sits. Hopefully everyone stays healthy this year

If Monk, Ellington, Bazemore can hit their perimeter shots or be threats, even better. Nunn has a respectable outside game plus he can create off the dribble to collapse the defense too.

When James or Davis or both are getting breathers, Anthony should carry the offense for the second unit with Nunn, Horton-Tucker, Howard and Ariza (Bazemore, Ellington). Let's hope they don't give up more than they score.

I'm kind of thinking that either Bron or Russ will always be on the floor for the most part too so we always have that playmaking ability. This team is so deep now with guard depth, I feel good and bad for Vogel
