If that information is accurate, Dennis is clueless. You would think this free agency period taught him something but he must have skipped class.
You know... if I had a team, I'd be seriously concerned that my potential point guard, who has to be 100% aware of everything and everyone on the court at all times isn't even aware of his own situation. I mean, this is pretty bad. Just take what they are offering, man.
He needs the man below Luol Deng to represent and mentor him at all times. I did a little research on Deng and while I stay hate his impact on the Lakers, he seemed like a pretty clever guy (maybe too clever) who invested his money in real estate and was a good team mate. He just entered into the position of not turning down Mitch's mad bad money contract which is what most of us would have done right? And I resent Steve Ca$h more anyway. Luol Deng - "Agent to the scrubs, grab that cash now don't worry about performing on the court, 84 million dollar stretches pretty far, and remember friend, before you negotiate for yourself, just say to the head office "NO DENG NO DEAL, i'm making that call to Luol right now..." Deng makes negotiations easy and profitable, just say "hold the vaseline" as he screws over your front office of choice.
I knew he wasn't worth $20M/year, but damn, it seems the league values him at around the MLE. I guess the S&T ship has sailed... bummer.
At this point even if it means, as likely anyway, that we get nothing for him .... I hope he gets shut down by the C Bags too and no one wants his a** for anything above TP MLE or even vet minimum, if he keeps grinding them for more money or years. Guy keeps doubling down on a losing position. His personality and demands HAVE to have been a factor in GMs' minds this free agency period.
This is slowly dwarfing the Noel and Isiah situations. As a matter of fact, it might already be the worst decision ever made by a player when it came to gambling on themselves. He had a guaranteed 21 million per for 4 years. A starting position with the premier franchise in all of sports in America. Southern California, Hollywood, endorsements like no other, just mind-boggling where the common sense is in this situation.
We moved on with the Westbrook trade, Russ is a far superior player to Schroder. I don't hold any ill will towards him, frankly if he had taken the extension, we wouldn't have Russ. I hope he signs a multi year deal, that means that we had to help facilitate the deal in a sign and trade. That means we get something back from losing an asset we gave up a first round pick for. We should all be pulling for Dennis to get a multi year deal somewhere IMO.
And a great, not overly lavish, new home in L.A. with a basketball court and nice pool and 3 (I think I saw in the home expose when he bought it, maybe 2) .... kids and a wife who probably by now all love living there.
He's a NBA player though, he has the cash, a lot of players live in LA. It is not like that real estate is going to drop in value . His miscalculation improved our team tremendously. If we manage to wrangle something else out of him in a S&T, trading for Dennis turned out to be a great move by Rob.
Yeah it’s not like I don’t know all that. Ask the wife and kids how much they would like moving again now or having Pops gone for 3/4 of the year staying in the city he’s playing for and on the road instead of what he had here. With the L.A. Lakers.
