this is why i think we'll offer him one year at 20 per. both sides can make it look like a win/save face. lakers can pretend like the 4/84 offer wasn't stupid, and DS can act like he's getting the rate he wants (the other 80 is SURE to come after everyone sees his greatness again).
I don't want him for the min vet. I don't care if we start Arcadiciono. This guy is bad to have around, completely delusional and 100% not thinking in the team's interest
i wouldn't go that far. arcidiacano has interested me for a while. not sure he can defend how we want someone to at the pg spot, and he's not a real shot creator, but it would be nice to have a shooting threat like him. quinn cook was supposed to be like that, but it didn't work out. then again, maybe we just can't have shooters here for whatever reason.
His desire for that kind of money just makes his poor playoff performance more glaring for me. Knowing that kind of money was on the line he was just awful. That’s not even exaggerating. He was flat out terrible. If the combination of it being the playoffs and wanting a large payday didn’t produce a better performance It’s hard for me to imagine that he will kick it into another gear once he’s got the bag.

He can't be gone fast enough to suit me. Not sure I've ever been this wrong about a player. Be better off without him whether we can replace him or not. He would not even start on the all time Alaska team.
I don't know why so many people dog on G Money that year. He did his job in LA in 2000. The only issue was Phil being Phil and being a prick to him because he wasn't good on D. Lakers had the best defense that year, FG% wise. He was a starter all year, didn't complain about touches and scored almost 17 a game. Lakers would have matched the 72 Lakers record if Phil hadn't taken his foot off the gas that year. Maybe Phil was a racist...... Just Kidding.
The only thing he did ok was go to the line which saved his efficiency from being totally worthless. Also didn't turn the ball over too much. Beyond that, anyone who would pay this guy anywhere near what he is asking should be removed from the front office they work in. Palyoff Games: 6 Minutes: 32.67 PTS 14.3 FG% .400 3P% .308 3PA 4.3 2P% .454 FT 84.6% REB: 3 AST: 2.8 STL: 1 BLK: 0.16 TO: 1.66
Just screams max money with his years in now, for among the most elite of PGs in the league. The guy and his agent can't be that delusional knowing what happened the last half of the season and in the playoffs with him in a contract year. My guess is they're yelling max money hoping to sell someone on what the Lakers first offered at $20M per. I would hope if Rob agrees to his original first offer, as I think @abeer3 said ... then just for one year now, and he may be gone at the deadline. Win win, I guess, better we get something. Though most of us hate his attitude.
The curse I made up on the spot, was more referring to him being the last outside shooter specialist that could actually shoot.
I know I probably shouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt given that he has shown to have an unreasonable sense of ego … but the article about him wanting $100 - $120 million is coming from the coach of the German national team. Specifically in the context that they can’t afford the insurance on that type of contract expectation, which is why Schröder won’t play for the national team this summer. Almost seems like that might just be Dennis way to avoid having to play. He floats an exaggerated contract expectation to Germany, knowing that they won’t want to insure that. Puts more of the blame on the national team and better optics than “Naw I’d rather chill in LA this summer”. Might be why the coach is publicly airing this out. Or maybe dudes lost his damn mind. Who knows with him?
another angle is that if it's about insurance, one could claim that the max available to him is what he could be losing if he got injured. i don't think it's big news. him turning down 4/84 was much bigger news. and we still never got the full details on that (was the 4th year non-guaranteed, etc.)--i think by design, again for each side to save face.
Meaning Rice was the last shooter we had that was brought in to shoot, and he actually delivered. Every other specialist (Green, Sasha, Brian Cook, etc.) forgot how to shoot when they got here. I was actually a big Rice fan and was questioning getting rid of him for Ho Grant. But we went 15-1 in the playoffs that season so what do I know.
I don't know how much face Shroder is going to save turning down 4/84 when he probably gets far less this offseason...and everyone will be able to do that math. Although crazier things have happened in the past with contracts, so maybe he gets more. I just pray to the basketball gods it's not us. Heck, I'll pray to THE God to protect us from that one.
