as a gm? yes. but a squirrel with a random board of potential moves would have also outdone him.

in terms of turning 25 million into half a billion? i'm guessing his fame/stature helped open some investment doors that would be closed to me, but it's pretty much a fact that wealth begets wealth. the basic cost of living has upper limits, so at some point, everything above that just gets leveraged up exponentially.

unless you're an idiot and spend it all on in-home shark tanks and the like. and honestly, with enough to start, you can even do dumb stuff like that, because your returns on investments outpace the original source of the money (assuming it wasn't gifted to you in the first place, like it is for most).

he could have been moved for a pick or a player with more use. or we could have taken our chances that he'd resign, too, given that his cap hold was tiny and we had early bird rights, iirc. it was just one of several useless/bad moves from magic in his mercifully short stint as gm.

moving Zubac was always a short sited move same as stretching Deng buyout $. A smart executive doenst work on premise that something COULD happen, that was what all of Magic's moves were, clear cap for a FA that "could" sign here, all of his trades to clear cap couldve been done once he had confirmation that said max FA was signing here, heck even the Dlo/Mozgov deal couldve been done the very same season Bron signed here and we couldve gotten even more for Dlo (look at the warriors)

Dlo's trade value wasn't very high after Dlo leaked a video of Nick Young. Lakers were never going to pay Zubac an extension. I don't know what the fuss is about. Magic had a lot of mess to clean up thanks to Mitch. Lakers were in a better position when Magic left than before Magic came and that's a fact.

BS, that leaked video was just media garbage, Dlo still got maxed and GS got a #7 pick for him along with Wiggins, dont buy into the media crap....any GM could throw away a Dlo to dump Mozgov, Nets moved Mozgov and only had to use 2 2nd rd picks to do so, dont give me that garbage bout magic doing good work moving Mozgoz and again Deng contract couldve been stretched anytime AFTER a 2nd max guy was confirmed

the deng stretch and letting lopez walk for a 3 million dollar deal...just...jeez. deng could have been preserved as trade filler or moved for a slightly less bad contract with a 2nd. lopez was a good player that we saw close up and just let him walk for magic beans.

You never know what the Lakers would have done with Zubac. Magic was a great Laker player, but he made numerous bad GM decisions, and walked out when the kitchen got a little hot. On national tv no less. Lakers were a national laughing stock then. Glade Rob is cleaning up the mess.

Nothing got hot for Magic. He got his nose bent out of shape over hearing Rob's frustration coming out apparently in some conversations with others, over not being able to get replies and decisions out of Magic in a timely fashion. Rob like Kobe is a worker and grinder and Magic had the rest of his empire (understandably) to take care of also. Rob's frustration with that also totally understandable. The walkout on national TV which blindsided the organization totally was bad enough. But the continued attacks on Rob and the organization, including the very day Vogel had his introductory press conference, were downright sabotage IMO with our pursuit of AD still to be done and a team to be built for the next season.

Home shark tanks aren't that expensive as long as you don't go nuts with the size. And the bigger the tank, the easier it is to maintain as water quality is more stable with greater volume. Now tigers on the other hand...

What is going to be market for both Cam Payne and Reggie Jackson? I'd pay either a lot more than Schroeder just because they can shoot more consistently

@abeer3 and I were discussing this in another thread.
I think both have made themselves a lot of cash with their playoff performances while Dennis’ stock dropped a lot.

I don't have sharks, but I have a 180 gallon salt water tank. I posted a video of it in the Pets thread in Open Court.

Dude! I had no idea. Please link that video so it's not a long search required or PM me with it, would love to see. I lived with a 40 and then 80 gallon fresh water set up with the colorful cichlids and aggressive fish and funny orange clown loaches with the black stripes for probably 15-20 years. Was totally into creating the colorful and natural looking environment. Such a great look at night. And salt water can be that on steroids with those fish. In a tank that BIG.

    :Crazyartest:

PS .... anyone here ever owned or grew up with Akitas? We had 3 males back to back to back over more than 30 years. Beautiful and amazing dogs.
